Thread Details

PluginBoutique has the AIR Xpand!2 VST on sale for $1 (down from $99.99) until August 31st.

http://www.pluginboutique.com/pro...60-Xpand-2

I saw this deal posted in a Facebook Group (Maschine Movement; https://www.facebook.com/groups/m...965913472/) and thought I would share with those who might not see it elsewhere.

I'm not too familiar with the VST or how good or bad it is, but one of Drake's producers (Noah "40" Shebib) uses it, if that says anything about its quality.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Meh.
You need an iLok account:
Before beginning installation/authorisation you're required to download the iLok Licence Manager and create an iLok account

Eh that didn't bother me much. Most major audio production programs have some kind of extra authorization program these days. I actually kind of like that it uses iLok as a few other programs (Soundtoys) I have use it too, so now more of my licenses are in one place. It was easy to setup and pretty non-intrusive so far.

The deal is still good until the end of the month!

So what do you think of it?
I bought it cus it was only $1 but haven't installed (bc of iLok)
I produce EDM with Ableton/ Omnisphere/ Komplete/ FabFilter/ UAD (none of which need a plugin manager BTW) and was hard pressed to see what Xpand could for me I can't do already.
The best I can figure is its "sort of" like a trimmed down Omnisphere??
Would love to hear your thoughts as it sounds like you're a user.
Thanks

If you're a well-seasoned, genre-specific producer who already has things like Komplete and Omnisphere, then Xpand isn't going to do very much for you. The sounds are great for the price, but it's not something I would have spent a lot of money on otherwise. The interface is a little primitive (I believe it is an older VST) and clunky to navigate sometimes.

I'm a well-seasoned intermediate novice who mostly bought it for cheap and easy sounds. I like them so far, but I also don't how to get the most out them yet in terms of layering and effects.

Have you used iLok before? I'm not sure why people are hesitant to use it, but it seems very transparent to me, and I only ever see it if I'm activating something on my iLok account (which means I've only seen it twice now - once for Soundtoys and again for Xpand).
