Flash Sale until 10PM(ET) Online Only!

Dick's Sporting Goods is having a 'Flash Sale' in which you can find the Vortex Diamondback 8x42 Binoculars for $149.98 (+tax) w/free shipping and in-store returns. The deal is good for online purchases only. YMMV on the use of additional mailer coupons from Dicks (e.g. for extra discounts, points, etc.), but I often find I can take my receipt in and get them applied later.

I have these binocs and they are really nice for this price-point, and Vortex (Made in the USA!) have a fantastic warranty and support. The binoculars receive 4.7 of 5 stars on Amazon (103 reviews), 5 stars on Dicks (6 reviews), 4.5/5 stars at Bass Pro (99 reviews), and 5 stars at Cabelas (99 reviews).

Research shows this is at least $10 below the online price at binoculars.com, but is well below the regular price ($219.99) as well as the currently listed price on Amazon ($179.99), Bass Pro ($239.99) and Cabelas ($219.99).

FYI - If you are a regular shopper at any of the stores listed above, you can likely get a price match.

Vortex is a good brand. Agree with OP that they are very decent optics at their price point.

It's not worth $150 for a binocular

Matter of OPINION, I think... I personally believe it is, as I use them for hunting, at football games, bird watching, wildlife viewing, etc., and can appreciate the difference between these and the cheaper ones (as well as between these and the more expensive ones). But the FACT remains, the Vortex Diamondbacks are a good quality glass for this pricepoint. And I can point to 300+ reviews that agree with me. Wink

Deal is dead... price is now now $199.99, which is still cheaper than BPS, Cabelas, and Amazon, but not cheaper than binoculars.com.

That's a rather blanket and uninformed statement. I know some serious birders who wouldn't dream of spending less than $500 for a good pair of binoculars. They've shown me their optics and wow, there really is an obvious difference. Personally not worth it to me; I'm never going to be that serious about the hobby. But I can't deny that it's important and worthwhile to them.

I love it how some people seem to have genuine difficulty separating their own subjective experience of the world from the other 6+ billion people out there who just might have a slightly different point of view, set of values and range of interests.
