One of the many many deals I bought via slickdeals
I Did not recieve a code and order status says "preparing for shipment" (I bought the Starbucks DIGITAL gift card)

Guess anything that's too good to be true IS too good to be true...even on slickdeals ConfusedMad

Apparently a lot of people have not received the gift card (like me) or code did not work

I do want to believe that this was a honest mistake - but there are a lot of unhappy people out for blood and this can turn into nasty PR for the company -
When I first came across the Benjaminapp I thought it had a lot of potential. The idea sounded great "tinder app for cool products"
But after this I really don't think I can trust the company and that is disappointing.

Hopefully they will sort this out and prove it wasn't a scam.

If it does prove to be a scam I think we as a community need to speak up and let others know so they don't have the same bad experience.

.....07/30/16....UPDATE

I would like to update this thread - initially looks like an honest mistake - teething trouble for a relatively new startup.

Although I would have definitely appreciated a Starbucks gift card - in a way I'm glad that I did not get one as the vendor they had used sounds a bit shady....I'm quite happy that they will be refunding everyone and making minor tweaks such as having a go to person for future communication etc.

I think for now - if you do intend to get something from them -- you should realize at this stage it is hit or miss, more miss than hit...

08/22/2016 --- UPDATE - PLEASE READ

Looks like a lot of people had to file a charge back to finally get a refund

But more worrying - one SD'ier noted that a fraudulent charge was placed via a CC that was used for this deal. Another noted that CC info may have been captured by a third party even though per Benjaminapp all transactions were through Stripe...

Just a heads up to be extra vigilant...

What? Benjaminapp is not a scam, there have been numerous deals around before. If you're having issues, contact their support and sort it out.

I did go through a few previous posts before buying and it seemed legit. That's why this is so disappointing -- I guess the threads with bad reviews somehow got buried - I couldn't find them through the slickdeals app - but they show up if you search via Google.... I've linked 2 threads that I managed to find - as you can see I'm not the only unhappy camper.....

Here's my experience

On May 22 2016 I ordered a $50 Starbucks card for $30 and it was delivered to my email within the hour and the $50 worked.all was good

On July 22 2016 I bought a $50 Starbucks giftcard for $35 from them. The confirmation email said wait up to 5 days for delivery of card. On July 27th 1pm est I received an email from them with a gift card code. The gift card code did not work. I immediately checked the thread on slick deals and saw many others received non working codes http://slickdeals.net/f/8950479-50-starbucks-e-gift-card-for-35?page=8. On July 27 2pm est I emailed Benjamin notifying them the cards do not work and requesting a refund. It is now July 28 1:30 est and I've received no response or refund.

I agree the whole mess with Sbux has left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. I mean this is SD not SD with hoops where Benjamin app guys take us for a ride on our own money.

IMHO once we find out the real deal with Sbux code issue, SD should ban Benjamin app. I have been patient so far and no chargeback initiated from my side but patience will run out early next week. I hope this is not some Ponzi scheme they are running.

Bought $50 starbucks gift card on July 21, charge posted and paid on July 22, did not receive anything as of today, July 28. I've initiated a chargeback with AMEX.

No giftcard or a refund yet. I am waiting and hoping they come through yet. If not, I will be doing a chargeback. I was apprehensive and should have trusted my gut feeling.

I got scammed out of my hard earned money. People got screwed on the spotify deal as well. SD should block their URL. They are that bad. Now I'm out $35. I'll give them a few days, if they don't fix it by then then I'll file a chargeback. Will update if they fix it.

Re-post from the Starbucks thread:

Hi everyone - checking in to let you know that an e-mail will be going out in a few hours to update you on the status.

Two quick points:
  • We guaranteed delivery in five business days, which made the deadline for delivery Friday, July 29th. Our mistake is that our order receipt e-mail contradicted the item description (and promotional e-mail that went out) and said that they would deliver in two days. That's our mistake.
  • In response to the overwhelming number of e-mails we received about delivery date, we decided to batch out some codes ahead of schedule. They were not yet activated by the merchant, resulting in the errors described above.
As CEO, I take responsibility for the two mistakes described above and I apologize for that. We have devised a plan to make it up to everyone who has ordered - you'll see that in the e-mail later today.

It is disheartening to be called a scam by the good people of Slickdeals. We've worked hard to build a reputation as a company that makes good on our promises and provides customer service that is above and beyond. You guys have been great to us, and we've done well by the people of Slickdeals in the past. We'll do so again this time. I ask for your patience and understanding as we work through it.

As always, if you prefer not to wait or would like a refund, just e-mail. We've always refunded everyone who has ever asked for one. There's no need to waste time on the phone with your bank or go through that whole process - it'll be quicker and easier for everyone involved. You can e-mail support@benjaminapp.co or andrew@benjaminapp.co - admittedly, our e-mail support system is backed up quite a bit right now but we're working overtime to take care of everyone.

You realize they have until tomorrow to send the card right?

Not taking any chances. I would recommend trying to get back your money ASAP.

I paid with a credit card. I'm not paranoid about not getting my money back.

Nothing received yet either. It has been 6 days. No contact. Charge cleared Discover on 7/22 (day of order). Have not yet filed a credit request with Discover yet... but am not worried about getting my credit.
