You may want to reevaluate
your marriage.
What a long story with an anti climactic ending. It sounds like you may be in an abusive relationship. It's kind of scary to think that having a cell phone thrown at you is normal. I'm glad you are talking about it. I believe that this may be a cry for help. Seriously.

I turned on my Visio.. told it I was using an antenna... it discovered several local stations... and I tune to them via the remote... don't see the problem...

User manual: https://cdn.vizio.com/documents/d...-d55d2.pdf

page 36: Selecting a Channel Source
Select the type of tuner input you will be using. You can select eitherAntenna (Over-the-air) or Cable (Out-of-the-wall) connections.
1. From the CHANNELS menu, highlight Channel Source andpress OK. The CHANNEL SOURCE menu displays.2. Highlight Antenna or Cable and press OK. Press EXIT.
Scanning for ChannelsThe TV may need to scan for channels before it can display programsand their associated information. A channel scan is required forfree over-the-air channels (using an antenna) and cable channelsfrom an out-of-the-wall connection (without a cable box). Movingthe TV to an area with different channels requires the TV to scan forchannels again.

My wife was trying to get my attention. I was sitting in front of our current, well, former tv (2014 vizio M55)
and she tried to throw her cellphone at my back, completely missed from 4 feet away, and gashed the tv. Turned it on, and it turns out the screen cracked with horizontal and vertical lines going everywhere on the bottom half of it.
Fixing it will cost 2-300 bucks. Im better off getting a new one.
That said, I love Vizio. For the short 2 years I had my M series, it was great and affordable. But I think Ill wait for a deal for the 2016 M series to go on sale or look at another TV in the 60-70 inch range.
I dont know how good this TV is but I think I'd still pass on it.

this would be a great deal if i could do something with the dell egift card. can these be sold or is there anything of worth that can be bought with it. I have enough computer related products. otherwise, it will be like paying $450 and is no longer a deal.

you can resell them, but be careful listing them on auction sites as these are e-Gift cards and scammers will file a claim with PayPal saying they never received the item after you give them the PINS and you wil lose your money.

Why not check with the manufacturer instead of believing a random Costco associate? From Vizio's website:

"Which VIZIO Series are Tuner-Free?
VIZIO SmartCast(TM) P-Series, M-Series and most E-Series models are tuner-free displays. VIZIO D-Series Smart TVs and select models of VIZIO SmartCast(TM)E-Series include a built-in tuner."
