Deal Details

(post content shamelessly copied from a similar previous FP deal)

HomeDepot.com has the Makita 18V LXT cordless hammer drill/driver and impact driver combo kit [homedepot.com], model XT211, for $149 with free shipping. Price valid until July 30 and "[on] clearance - limited quantities while supplies last".

Includes:
- compact hammer drill/driver-drill
- impact driver (neither tools are brushless)
- 2 lithium-ion 3.0Ah batteries
- rapid optimum charger
- plastic hard tool case, 2 belt hooks
- 3 years warranty

Model numbers and specs:
- XPH01 hammer drill: 1/2" single sleeve chuck, 400/1500 rpm with 2 speed gearbox, 480 in-lb of torque, 6000/22500 bpm, LED light with afterglow (love this feature), no side handle or depth gauge (this is a light duty hammer drill after all).
- LXDT04Z impact driver: 2300 rpm, 1420 in-lb of torque, 3200 ipm, LED with afterglow.
- (2) BL1830 batteries: 3.0Ah, sadly no battery gauge like some newer batteries.
- DC18RC charger: charges the included 3.0Ah batteries in 22~30 minutes and 1.5Ah in 15min, almost half the time of Milwaukee and DeWALT standard chargers, thanks to a fan blowing into the battery's unique air channel that cools the cells and circuitry (a few people do report the fan getting whiny or dying) (EDIT: Milwaukee came out with a fast charger [homedepot.com] last October, DeWALT's [amazon.com] will be released in August 15 while Makita has always included fast chargers since ~2006)
- 824812-5 hard plastic case.

Not as good as the previous FP deal in February (HD Special of the Day deal) for the same price, as it came with a bonus 21-Piece Impact Gold Ultra Magnetic Insert Bit Set [homedepot.com] which is $13 if purchased separately.

Not a bad deal. Don't think it is super slick. But not bad at all.

Thats the one I picked up. I find that the smaller battery is great as its lighter on the drill and for DIYers like me, its all I really need for 90% of all uses.

Good deal considering battery size. I still am very happy with my ridgid set and have no fears about battery replacement.

OOS for a few hours then back in stock again as of now.

Yeah, not a "slick" deal given that so many good deals abound, especially brushless, old models and/or refurbs. I bet over half the TU are from SD scripts for internal promotion. But still a decent deal for a new set from a common top-tier brand (Milwaukee, DeWALT, Bosch, Makita, Hitachi). Some people don't want to deal with refurb tools/batteries or return hassle (90 day return to store with HD).

Plus it trips alert for those looking for Makita tools and/or batteries. I bought my set in Feb partly because a family member had a 1.5Ah battery that died and an extra 3Ah battery would have cost $80 each or $120 a pair back then (1.5Ah/2Ah wasn't much cheaper). Now he has a spare 3Ah battery and I have an excuse to own a proper 18V tool set to complement/replace my Craftsman NEXTEC 12V Li-Ion set (too weak at times), old DeWALT 18V NiCd (way too heavy, NiCd batteries), and Ryobi 18V NiCd (ugh).

I went for Bosch clpk222-181 for $179

Love the beast

I am not returning it and buying this.. Even though I'd save 40-50 bucks.. as everyone said not very slick...

Makita is a good brand, if anyone really want the hammer version go for little higher version .. The one come with hammer handle
