Could've sworn I've seen a thread for these before (maybe even started it myself,) but I don't see one now despite searching, so apologies if this is a repost.

One of my favorite car items is on sale, currently at the lowest price I've seen it on amazon. I've gone through a couple tubes of these tablets (thanks Florida lovebugs and salt air!), and they work great.

Now $8.73 and eligible for Prime shipping. Even less with S&S ($7.42 @ 15% OMG). I make less than a full gallon per tablet for the higher concentration, and it still costs a fraction of buying premixed solution (plus easy to keep around).
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Ehhh I MIGHT use a gallon a year.

And though I'm no longer in FL, I lived there for 20+ years. Love bugs suck the D. But wiper fluid and wipers only smears them and makes them worse. Yeah, you could probably spray half a gallon of fluid and drive around with the wipers on for 20 minutes. Or pull your ass over to a gas station and scrub them with the free squeegee. Have that windshield crystal clear in about 3 minutes.

The secret for getting them off your paint? If they're fresh, lay a wet towel over the area and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then they'll practically fall off. But more than likely, you had to let them sit a day+ before you had a chance to wash the car. In this case.....dryer sheets. A little water on a dryer sheet and they wipe right off.
That would never work. The tablet would realize it was not in pure water and would refuse to dissolve.
Dawn will strip the wax off your car though. Your roof will become even more vulnerable to wear.

Do I need to use distilled water or something with these?

I've always just added a few drops of dawn dish soap and it seems to work well

I would always recommend distilled so it doesn't clog the sprayer jets

Reviews say you have to add alcohol as an anti-freeze. Too much fuss when I don't go through that much of cleaner as it is. Thanks anyway, OP.

Even though tap is probably fine, I use distilled water because I want to keep the minerals out of the jets and I find it streaks a little less.

mine says 7.90 after 15% S&S. still a good deal

Also, for mine I just use rodi water from my kitchen filter. haven't had a clogged jet in any cars. Not worth buying distilled just for water wasted to clean windows
