From the listing: "Experience the panoramic 29 DellTM UltraSharp U2913WM"
Also, that's what the "U" in the model number stands for. The "13" in the model number indicates it is a 2013 model.

This originally sold for over $700. Yes, it's an older model now; surprised to see "new" stock left as mostly you see these as Used or Refurbs now.

The LG is a "budget" version of the same format. I have one and it's fine, but nowhere near the build quality and features of an UltraSharp. I have several UltraSharps but not this one. In a previous similar deal, a reviewer who had both the LG and U2913 said that the display on the U was far superior. I have not seen this one in person but that would be my expectation of an UltraSharp

Also, you're not going to find this amazing level of connectivity in anything else:

Connectivity

1 Dual Link Digital Visual Interface connectors (DVI-D) with HDCP
1 DisplayPort 1.2 (DP)
1 Mini DisplayPort 1.2 (mDP)
1 High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
1 Video Graphics Array (VGA)
1 USB 3.0 upstream port
4 USB 3.0 downstream ports
1 DisplayPort out
1 Audio out
DC power connector for Dell Soundbar (AX510)

just my opinion, but putting 2 of these next to each other is silly. your money would be much better spent getting a couple of u2715s and having way more vertical res plus still a ton of horizontal res. also my humble opinion, but 29" is just too small for ultra wide. I know the 34" is typically more than double this price, but it's the "right" size and resolution if you want ultra wide.

Any downsides of purchasing on ebay via newegg if you run into problems with screens down the road? Can you call newegg just like normal for support or with it being sold via their ebay account are you shit out of luck for support?

wouldn't you just be better off with a 42" 4k tv as a monitor?

Not exactly difficult. It just costs a lot more money. U3415.

Why these ultra wide monitors are getting popular?
They are narrower than 2 normal 16:9 or 16:10 (1920*2 vs 2560). But more expensive than 2 normal ones.
And harder to dock 4 windows.

Yes and no...
It's true that it's not nearly as wide, and it's only 1080, so it's definitely an "odd" format not suitable for everyone. I think it evolved from the days of 4:3 monitors which were often 1280x1024, so this size is like 2 of those side-by-side, with the vertical bumped from 1024 to 1080. And these let you display two inputs side-by-side, which could potentially be from 2 different computers. (would you want to do that? maybe -- all depends on what you are doing).

As for the price, the main reason for the higher price on this model is that it's a Dell UltraSharp which generally run about 2x the price of a typical home-level monitor. They are much "beefier," have tons of inputs, USB3 hub, a very nice adjustable mounting system, a very high-quality IPS panel, 3 year warranty, etc.
