Weird. I was told CAT6 and beyond should be in the form of THICK cables comparing to CAT5 or CAT5e. Why is this one even in half size? So, is it fast and reliable as a CAT6a cable supposes to be?

I was thinking the same. I picked up some Cable Matters 24AWG rated for pretty high bandwidth (550MHz) . These Monoprice however, are 30AWG and no specifications at all.

Cat5e is enough for many people.

These are too thin to be called CAT6A. But for the price, it won't matter.

Panduit makes cables like this that are Cat6a as well. If these are made to the same specs they are legit.

At distances under 10 feet, 30awg is fine

We got handed the Levitan version of these from a vendor for wiring a network closet. I'll cop to thinking they wouldn't work, but they work just fine - no signal degradation. Almost better than that the end result from using the thinner cables is a clean look to the job. Nice tight tidy bundles.

We liked the Levitan ones so much we ordered a bunch from Monoprice. They work just as well as the more expensive Levitan cables.

As a side note, these are not cables you'd want to put deskside. The thinner gauge is no good for getting pulled, yanked or run over. Even the vendor we first got them from warned us about that.

they look fine for a patch cable which is what the description has them as and as several people mentioned. Not for use running long distances or near desks, etc

These have been working well in the one environment I've implemented them in; no problems.

Since it's much thinner than the CAT5E, so it's not big difference, for me I prefer 7 feet. Smilie

On May our company moved to new location, I ordered 5' 7' 14' CAT6A from monoprice to replace all old CAT5E cables for the new network room, they are awesome and thin, save space and make the network panel a great look.
