i wandered back in the Walmart recently and i think this was the only picture they had worth a look in the entire store. Not saying much i know but i was impressed and looked hard to compare with any other UHD panels but there were none.

i have two Lg 50" Plasmas that are 6 and 7 years old respectively and are awesome.. sold on LG because of it.

honestly, TVs are one of the new things you can buy, that when you're comparing them side by side in a store, one looks better than the other, but when you bring that inferior one home, theres nothing to compare it to so it looks spectacular, and you walk out a winner with a few hundred bucks saved. Picture quality nowadays is so superior, even on low end sets, that these companies can only improve it so much, and its just not worth the cost for such subtle change, if any.

How does this TV compare to the 55" Sony XBR55X900C listed for $799. Was about to pull the trigger on that 1. Is it worth the price difference?

Not really. Depends on the brands. You can get a 4K 55" Sansui or Sceptre for less than $300. Or a Panasonic for $400. Prices are coming down across the board.

For a TV that's 55" would you be able to tell the difference between 4K and 1080 from 8' away?

I heard the LG actually uses Sony panels - but don't quote me on that.

I would use rtings.com for comparison shopping, they are my go-to site for TV shopping reviews

Ehhh... I have a 50" sceptre 4k and it's decent for the price. But there is some judder and the screen is not uniform at all. On a lot of white screens, I can see darker areas in different areas around the screen, and it looks worse when you move to the side.

I agree. I also have the 810C and I'm at about the same distance.
