Disney Infinity
Fri 7/29/2016 12:12 PM

Attention, Toy Box Builders:

Since announcing that we will discontinue the production of Disney Infinity, we've been exploring timelines for the closure of the game's online versions and community features. Our goal has been to offer extended access to these services, while also providing clear communication about what you can expect. It's important to note that:
The console versions of Disney Infinity will continue to operate as usual with full access to figures and play sets only with the exception of community content features and online multiplayer
Until September 30, 2016, Community Content will still be available and you will be able to upload and download any of your favorite Toy Box creations
Below is an overview of the timelines and additional details are available on our FAQ pages.

As of today (July 29, 2016)
No in-game purchases can be made within the PC, Steam version of Disney Infinity 2.0, iOS, Google Android, Amazon Android and Apple TV versions of the game as this feature has now been removed
You can continue to make in-game purchases within the Steam version of Disney Infinity 3.0.
As of September 30, 2016
You will no longer be able to log in to play the PC, iOS, Google Android and Amazon Android versions of Disney Infinity, these will no longer be available on the respective app stores
The Steam versions of Disney Infinity 2.0 & 3.0 will remain operational with the exception of all online services and community features as these will be discontinued
Apple TV versions of Disney Infinity will be removed from the AppStore
The Disney Infinity Community team will no longer be reviewing or approving any new Toy Boxes that are submitted to Disney for all console, mobile and PC versions of the game. However if you are playing on any console, Apple TV or Windows 8/10 versions of the game, you can continue to download your favorite Toy Boxes from the Community Content section until March 3, 2017
As of January 3, 2017
No in-game purchases can be made within the Windows 8/10 versions of the game as this feature will be removed
As of March 3, 2017
Apple TV and Windows 8/10 versions will no longer be available, supported or playable
All Disney Infinity online services and community features for all versions will be discontinued
To learn more about which services of Disney Infinity are being removed or information related to your game version, visit our Closing FAQs located here for additional information.

Please check the Disney Infinity website frequently prior to March 3, 2017 as we will provide the Disney Infinity community with news and status of the game across all platforms should the status change.

Thank you for your support and enthusiasm through the years.

The entire Disney Infinity team

Look for the word "console" in the note.

they included this line up there:

"All Disney Infinity online services and community features for all versions will be discontinued"

i guess that's a blanket statement, covering xbox, ps4, and wii.

Doesnt explain anything about online multiplayer ending

It does. The statement basically says you can play locally (including any downloaded content) but online multi-player is dead.

I'm concerned over the iOS versions - spent a few bucks buying characters, and this is just going to shut down completely?

sounds like everything offline will continue to work..it's just all the online content that will cease to function. all the community stuff, sharing levels, downloading levels, etc will no longer work. so, essentially, it'll turn into an offline game..with no more support either i suppose. :/

so sad. was such a great franchise and it seems like such a cash cow for disney - as long as they keep creating movies/characters, they'd have a platform to scrape more money from us.

We have pretty much almost all of the console characters - at least the ones the kids wanted. I guess I will make sure I backup my iOS apps and put it up on my Google Drive as a precaution so I can reinstall it if needed.

What Disney did is absolutely sickening and its apparent that this was constructed by big whig executives who worship the almighty dollar, having no intriguity, care of the fans, their own studio partners, and most of all children and parents. I could understand 3.0 being the last edition, the content the studios were making were brilliant far better than the bland schlop released, with xmen, rogue one on the horizon, battlegrounds scrapped just to get it out to the public and ignoring features such as online ( no mics or gamer tags for child protection) and friends list lobby play with those features - would have made this essentially a super smash brothers junior with an amazing diverse cast utilizing characters old and new and could have continued to grow via xmen.

The fact that they made toy box take over and has a studio expanding in that idea offering a full campaign similar to lego dimensions was not only long over due but I cant think of a better company with diverse, dramatic, and even comedic pairings of protoganonist and antagonist, they had easily the strongest devoted player community, and just because they had eyes bigger than their profit margin and produced too many toys in 2.0 yet refused to lower the prices till cancellation- making 3.0 essentially a swan song. If Battlefront is considered Disney's future of gaming, where an incomplete- severally generic and boring shooter, with only promises of better content locked away behind a 50 dollar season pass- I will forgo all Disney games again, the decision that dissolved lucas arts a developer with such a rich history of games, spanning decades to whore out their franchises to companies who have no passion in the project and a community of segregated between star wars fans and battlefield fans shows the logetivity of their games will be on an annual call of duty basis. Ask any one who first heard of Disney infinity the idea of spider-man fighting alongside Mr. Incredible trying to take out an army of storm troopers to save the Magic Kingdom and Mickey from a cast like Jafar, Loki, and Vader.

Disney infinity was fine to reduce budgets, releasing content more slowly, while incentiving gamers to pick up older figures like battlegrounds for instance and a campaign accessible to all franchises, their patiences would have not only been well recieved with lower price points for older edition figures, the community was so active it would literally keep content fresh through creators with passion sharing and perfecting their craft.

Then when the official devs released something it would be exciting and this cash cow was far from milked, the true killer was the slew of pointless sporadic single unconnected characters for toy box only, it was greedy, confusing to gamers, and even more confusing to those buying the figures as this is seemingly a childs game, and parents shouldn't have to research. I joined in 2.0 and figuring out what was compatible with what was seemingly like preparing for the S.A.T.s why was rocket racoon in the Avengers playset or Hulk in Spidermans? What logic was there, yes in 3.0 they fixed it via unlockable coins but the game felt like it was missing an entire quarter, who are these random rebels, I bought them - but why wasn't their story told. Now servers are being cut, honestly Disney makes more money than most small countries, yet they cant support the fans who believed in the magic they promised- Disney on behalf of children, the studios you destroyed, and the fans you duped into buying platforms supported less than a year- your company's scum and its clear happily ever after is actually happily stealing your hard earned money through false promises.

I can deal with the loss of multiplayer online. It's the completely pulling the App from the Apple and Google Play stores I don't understand. If they could just allow local mutliplayer and drop online server access - I could work with that.

Try to explain to an autistic 6yr old his 2nd favorite game (next to Minecraft) is no longer going to work anymore on his iPad is going to be difficult. Thanks Disney.
