I called Staples (800-333-3330), and requested SanDisk Ultra price match, came out $17 before tax, Free Ship with Reward Member

The final price is $17.99, plus whatever local taxes might apply. Staples' policy matches the price plus "10% of the difference", so the discount is $2.00: 10% of the $20 difference between Staples' $39.99 list price and OfficeDepot's $19.99 sale price. Made the deal a little slicker by using my Chase Ink Plus card (5x points at office supply stores)--a value of 5% cash back, or 8.5% - 10.5% in some travel redemption scenarios.

You should also be able to PM to Staples [staples.com].

EDIT: After 110% PM guarantee, they were $16.99. No tax for me because I'm in GA for tax free weekend. Free ship. Got four of 'em with Staples GCs that I got from Discover for 20% off face (rewards points).
That's strange. These are supposed to work without any driver. Just plug them in and you are good to go.

Wirte speeds on the Lexar are around 26 MB/sec. I couldn't find anything on the SanDisk. I would say go for the Lexar over the SanDisk. One of the older USB drives had one of the worst write speeds I had on any USB drive and San Disk seemed to be ok with that. I won't ever buy another one of their USB thumb drives.

one reviewer on Amazon says the Lexar writes >60M/s
which is pretty good
