Standard HDTV is 8-bit color per RGB channel. There can be some visible banding in the blue sky, etc with only 256 color levels.

HDR expands the color space to 10-14 bits per RGB channel, to eliminate banding. You need a new bluray player that has HDR for this. Maybe the built in apps can do HDR.

The HDR panels also may have an expanded color gamut, but that is a separate issue decided by backlight/quantum dots/OLED color range of the panel.

Another matter is the chroma sampling, 4:4:4 is the best and has separate color for each pixel. HDR sets will probably support 4:4:4, whereas older HDTV may just support 4:2:2 which shares color for 2 pixels so it may be though of as more blurry. It really only matters for computer monitors in my opinion, where you want to have clear colored text.
no, the new model numbers end with D. (2016)

this one ends with C (2015)

the one I have is a 2014 which ends in B

also, you can tell by the stand.
the 2014 model stand is a square stand in the middle of the tv
the 2015 has simple legs on each side
and the 2016 model has 2 shiny legs on each side which are oval shaped.

I believe this is the 2015 model without the HDR. Can someone confirm. Probably still a good deal though

Yes it is.

Im anxiously waiting for the 2016 M or P series to go on sale. Anything around 7-800 for a 55 inch or more for the newer models, and ill pull the trigger.

Whether the 2 or 4 year square trade is worth it?

Good price but these are not true 120hz. Only the 60" plus models are. I ordered one but it showed up smashed from Dell and now they are saying its on back ordered and won't be here till late August and I'm stuck with the broken one until then. No other resolutions offered. (Besides refund). Speaking of, anyone know how to contact corporate? Their customer service is beyond abysmal.

I own this exact television. I must say Vizio really came up. I was there when Vizio started and thought there product were OK. So when purchasing I was a little afraid that I was gonna be let down.

Squaretrade is legit, they came through for me several times, on 2 different tv's, one of which was a lemon.
