Bang for buck, these are the ones to get. They are a bit 'bright', but I like that.

(edit, I'm talking about the philips, a bit bright sounding)

i bought the philips a few weeks ago, after a forum said they are comparable in quality to the sennheiser 558, which is much more expensive

these are incredible headphones, worth every penny

Which ones are you referring to? I need a pair to use while mowing the lawn

He's talking about the Philips ones. They are definitely a good pair of headphones.

Oh ok. When he said a bit bright, I thought maybe he meant the jbl. But I guess I missed the sarcasm Smilie

Would you guys recommend the Philips for mowing and yard work? Or should I wait for a deal on noise cancelling Bluetooth?

I don't know how much you sweat... but the Philips SHP9500's are Over-Ear Headphones. If you're outside for a long period of time in direct sunlight, they are going to get hot and make your ears wet after a while, which makes me uncomfortable.

I would probably recommend looking into either the Samsung Level U or LG Tone series (whichever style you like best)... for yardwork. They aren't really noise-cancelling and are Bluetooth earbuds... which is a radical departure from the Philips, but they do sound pretty good for the money. I use the Level U's outside and once my ear has a tight seal, I can't hear much outside noise.

No, they are open headphones, so you won't be able to hear your music at all. You need a pair of closed headphones which isolate outside noises from your music.

Can't go wrong with the SHP9500s, best cans I've ever bought in terms of build, quality & comfort

I'm returning my 9500's today. The sound was fantastic especially with my amp's bass boost turned on. The only problem is that these literally slide right off of my head if I look down or tilt it back. I wear just under a hat size 7 1/2 so definitely not a tiny head. I finally decided that it was going to be a source of annoyance that isn't going to go away. I could have tried bending the headband but I decided against it since there's a layer of hard plastic lining it as well. Others have reported this same problem. Being so comfortable is a double-edged sword in this case as part of the reason they're so comfy is the reason they won't stay on. I'm putting the money towards a slightly used pair of AKG k7xx's.

TU for the great deal on SHP9500. I won't be getting them because I own the Fidelio X1, but the SHP9500's value is unmatched.

Bought a SHP9500 from the deal of a couple of weeks ago when it was $60 with a $10 rebate. I really like these headphones. Amazon has them for $75 so this remains a very good deal. They sound great and are very comfortable.
