Starting 8/4 through 8/28, Costco has the Plantronics BackBeat FIT Bluetooth black headphones new for $55 new both in-store and online (Costco's price of $75 - $20 discount, limit 2). This is the lowest price I've ever seen for these headphones new by about $20. The black variant never goes this low, and per CCC, the green and blue ones went for $75 at their lowest.

Some users report these headphones bouncing during running. Others run with them without issue. YMMV.

I will chime in with some info, if it may help some of you on the fence. I got these in December (blue, from Best Buy). I have used them regularly in the gym and on runs. In June, they developed a very audible buzz in one ear. I contacted Plantronics, and they send a replacement (refurb). So far, it's worked well - just like my original set. I hope I just got a dud, but only time will tell.

These things have the best sound I've encountered in such a small and relatively light package. They can get loud, and the bluetooth range is solid. The controls are also simple, and they work well. Pairing is good, too. They are very comfortable over the ears, and I wear glasses. The only issue I've encountered (besides the buzz) is that they can slip out of the ear on runs. I have solved that problem by wearing a headband that covers the tops of the earpieces and keeps them in place.

With the firmware update, it tells you the number of hours of batter remaining. Out of the box, they simply said "full" or "medium" or "low." I find this battery info very satisfying. You get 8 hours on a full charge, which is plenty.

I have tried the Motorola ones (S9, S10). Those things were not loud enough, not comfortable enough, and not durable enough. I kept having to send them in, and they were stupidly expensive. I've also tried the Sony headset (AS700), and it pretty much sucked. I've given other cheap bluetooth headphones (like MPOW Swift) a shot for working out. Still no good. None have worked as well as the Backbeat Fit.

These were $100 when I got them, and I thought they were priced accurately. At $55, I consider them a steal. I will be buying another pair this week and getting 5% back with my Freedom card.

That's a good deal! And I love that black/white color! Would be getting it had I not already got the blue one.

We have the blue one, too. I like the look of the black as well. I think we'll pick up at least another one at this price because, after my wife has used it so much, there is a little bit of peeling of the silicone where it rubbed.

Man I really wanted something like this. Do you guys know where can I find one like this with some storage built in? I hate running with my phone so it'd be nice if I can just find one that store just a few songs.

Hey, it sounds like what you are looking for is something like this headset + Pebble Core [getpebble.com]. The Core is just starting to ship to KickStarter backers [kickstarter.com], and basically exactly what you described. You can store a few gigs of songs on it and it has GPS, bluetooth, a 3g radio, and it's about the size of a thumb drive. It should be available for general purchase soon [pebble.com]. Pebble lists the MSRP of the Core at $99. Probably will drop in price in the first 6 months or so.

Hope this helps!

Thanks. I'll probably have to wait a bit since I'm not a backer. Funny that I just bought a pebble time a few days ago. Haha.
