Dell has just posted a one-day only 37% off code [twitter.com] in the Business Outlet, good for the Latitude E5470 and E5570 [dell.com] (and only those model computers). Coupon code: sm37Latitude

For folks unaware, these are Dell's midrange business laptops, with 14" and 15.6" screens, respectively. Build quality and design is definitely better than the equivalent consumer Latitudes, and they come with better warranties (next day in-home, rather than mail-in service). I bought an E5570 during an earlier SD and have been quite happy with it. Processors are 6th gen i-series, ranging from i3 ulv to quad-core i5 and i7's.

Prices on the website post-coupon start around $300 for a basic i3, and ranging up to around $900 for a quad core i7/512gb ssd/16gb ram/1080p touchscreen model. Going by previous outlet deals, ordering via chat or phone may give additional configurations not listed on the website. Also, an extra 2% off may be available via chat. Most of these are going to be factory refurbs with full warranties, with a few new in box models, and some "scratch and dent"s that are, from what I have heard, functionally perfect.

Basic shipping is free, and while not specifically listed, expect the coupon to die after 11:59pm eastern time tonight, 8/2.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

I just experienced the same thing when accessing via the 5470/5570's via the links, but when navigating to the computers from the main dell outlet page, the computers are adding to cart properly. Maybe a problem when going through the links/whatever SD does to the links? Try going to Dell.com > Deals > Dell Outlet for Work and select Latitude Laptops. Doing it that way will require you to select the E5470/5570's manually, but should work.

Or try the Dell Outlet chat and let whoever is on the other end basically what you are looking for (screen/processor/Intel or AMD graphics...) and see what they come up with.

Does anyone know how much the extra warranty costs and if its worth it? I overlooked looking into it. Typically we buy the business line for longevity and spending extra on warranty defeats the purpose.

I bought this configuration earlier today for 717+ tax. Any opinions on whether E5570 is a better laptop for development? The E5470 was the only one with touch LCD at a decent price point, and I didn't want to lose option of touch even though CPU is what I most care about.

Also, the E5570 has a dedicated graphics processor. I dont use it for gaming, so thought I could live without that. If the experts here have any feedback would love to hear and switch my order to E550.

Thanks in advance,

depends how much... if you bought it today, you can always chat online to get a quote about extending warranty

their NBD (next-business-day) warranty service is excellent. it's just whether you want to pony up the $.

your credit card likely adds an additional year too

i have E5470, using for development. With specific heavy load, it can throttle quite a bit and can't even hit the 2.7 base freq (this is rare though)

E5570 has better cooling system (especially with dedicated graphics) and numpad

I just wanted a lighter/smaller laptop with dock, and this(and lenovo T460p) fit my needs

(overall, both E5470/E5570, runs slightly hot in base, but the fans are silent/quiet and only kick in above a high temp level)

regardless if what you do, add more RAM
you can get 2x16GB = 32GB DDR4 for under $120 (wow right!), and get a dock (can have laptop internal screen plus 2 external monitors = 3 independent displays)

there are two threads on each laptop here, read through the opinions

All else equal, there should not be a significant difference in performance between the two. Discreet graphics is nice to have, but can't say if it significant for your purposes. You will definitely want to add RAM, which is an easy upgrade on these Latitudes - loosen a few screws to remove the bottom cover, and the RAM slots and hard drive are right there. In your case, there will be an empty RAM slot that you can pop a new module right into.
