FYI, a doctor friend told me the only good scientific study of melatonin found the optimum dosage for the average adult is 0.3 mg (1/10th of one of these pills). Much above that is pretty much a waste, because your body doesn't use it and you just pee it out.

So if you're using this, you might want to try cutting it into halfs or quarters to see if it's just as effective. If so, you just made the deal 2x or 4x slicker!

I'm not going to try and say what works best from you, but research has shown melatonin generally works best at significantly lower doses as a sleep aid.

Something for everybody interested in melatonin to consider. Unfortunately people assume "more is better" so we see some absurd doses on store shelves.

Tumeric is so expensive. Why can't Monsanto make it cheaper?

In earlier research, scientists led by Professor Richard Wurtman, principal investigator for the current study, showed that only a small dose of melatonin (about 0.3 milligrams) is necessary for a restful effect. Taken in that quantity, it not only helps people fall asleep, but also makes it easier for them to return to sleep after waking up during the night--a problem for many older adults.

The researchers also found, however, that commercially available melatonin pills contain 10 times the effective amount. And at that dose, "after a few days it stops working," said Wurtman, director of MIT's Clinical Research Center and the Cecil H. Green Distinguished Professor. When the melatonin receptors in the brain are exposed to too much of the hormone, they become unresponsive.

The strength listed on these supplements means almost nothing when comparing one brand to another. It's completely unregulated in the US, so you may not even be getting melatonin in a supplement that is advertised as containing melatonin.

The only thing you can really do (besides sending it off to a lab to be tested) is to compare efficacy between brands, which is possible with melatonin unlike other pseudo-supplements.

This is my go-to for Melatonin: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GFPCN4 (good stuff).
However, at $3.83 the posted deal is certainly worth a shot. Thanks OP.

FYI, I've personally found that higher doses give me weird, vivid, generally not-so-pleasant dreams. This dosage seems to be about right.
