According to Camel, these haven't really dropped below $10 on Amazon except for two very quick price drops couple months ago.

How do these compare to Monoprice? There I can get two black USB 3.0 to USB-C cables shipped for about $14.

Tried to purchase

Anker PowerLine USB-C to USB-C 2.0 Cable (3ft) for USB Type-C Devices Including the new MacBook, ChromeBook Pixel, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nokia N1 Tablet, OnePlus 2 and More
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A6G0CTQ

with promo code OS6I324M but it didn't work.
Promo code MRVSMPWU, however, gave me $4 off per cable.

Thanks!

I bought and returned some Anker USB C cables because they required a ridiculous amount of force to insert in my phone. Far more than other brands. It's disappointing because I've otherwise loved Anker products.

That's because the force hasn't awakened for you and the force is not with you :-D

Not sure how these are good deals when you can get other brands for less all day long. I got a GVDV braided one for my HTC 10, works perfectly.

It was a must to buy usb-b cables from respected brands because they broke so easily.
(break as in it looks fine but it won't connect)
I'm not sure if it's the case with usb-c.
I recently bought a cheap Chinese one off ebay to test out.
Anybody else know if usb-c's are generally sturdier than usb-b?

In my experience, yes. The difference in quality as it relates to manufacturer that I've found is how chunky the cable is. That said, do be sure that whatever cable you select is up-to-spec with your device. Some cheaper, older USB C cables can fry newer devices.

I've bought about 10 new USB C cables since getting a Nexus 6P, and these are definitely my favorite. They're as fast as the stock cables, but that isn't a hard or unique feat. It's the build that I adore. These cables are very slim, very flexible, and the connectors themselves are slim enough to fit through the cutout on any case I've used with my phone.

This doesn't seem like a fantastic price for a USB C cable, but if the build quality of a cable is important to you, I can't recommend it enough.

Yes, there was a Googler Benson Leung that was famous for reviewing these cables.
The key is cheaper cables won't give you the fastest charge and also won't give you good data transfer rates.
