First post, just sayin...

Walmart in my local store (Wyoming, MI) has the backyard grill dual gas/charcoal for $99. I was in the store browsing at the grills and I saw this grill and it seemed like a really good deal. However, being the savvy shopper that I am, I wanted to first go home and compare pricing and read reviews.

To my surprise, the cheapest I could find this grill was on walmart.com (link below) on "Clearance" for $188 (from $198). After skimming through the reviews (over 500 reviews with an average of 4.5 stars) I was sold. I am confused why they would have this almost $100 cheaper in store, hence the YMMV.

I went back to Walmart the next day (yesterday) and they had 4 left still priced at $99. I jumped on it. Seems like a great deal for a nice grill (according to the reviews).

Let me know what additional info you may need and I'll get it posted.

Exactly what I am looking for unfortunately this is EXTREMELY YMMV. This was only carried in a few states by the looks of my search. I will give you a TU for the FYI, and to even out the TD.

I saw a bunch of these at the same store I found the Char-Griller Dual Function Gas/Charcoal Grill for $80.00 (zip 02351). They were marked $100. I just didn't get a chance to create another thread.

Why would someone want a grill that's gas and charcoal? what's the purpose?

So you can cook multiple items at multiple temperatures and get different flavor profiles. With the gas you can make quick and easy meals, but on the charcoal side you can slow cook items. Yes you can always cook something quick on the charcoal too but it gives you options. Not to mention you can also do some smoking with the charcoal. If either of the last two deals were anywhere near me, I would have been sold. I love the versatility of having multiple type of cooking fuels for my grilling.

I'm not familiar with the brand, but I will add that I checked out a similar model (- ie cheap one) at Kmart will all the intention of buying it after hearing about the price. But even at a low price I ended up not buying it because the build quality was so poor. I wouldn't have know that had I not seen it in person first. It just felt flimsy - and almost certainly not going to last for more than a couple seasons. I ended up scoring a much better deal on a (slightly) used one.
My point being - do yourself a favor and check it out in person if you can first. Then decide if you're ok with the quality. If you don't move your grill and you live in a warm/dry climate (and/or keep it covered) you may be ok.

Provides the option for quick 5 minute hot dog cooks, as well as low and slow charcoal cooks. For me I find more use out of a separate gas grill and propane/woodchip smoker.

I bought this grill in Southern Missouri on Clearance,2 weeks ago.(Bought it for $154,then went back and got it for $99 a few days later after I went back and saw it lower. They refunded me the difference) The first time I've done that at walmart,it was only at 1 store,so I didn't think it was fair to post it here.

It's a pain to put together, download the PDF,to get the idea of how it goes together. The screws, nuts etc,are well labeled on a plastic push pack thing...

I use the charcoal for slower, roasting pork loins, etc,I mainly use the Gas grill on weekdays,The Gas side is a touch bigger than the charcoal.I like the convenience of having both options available in 1 grill.

I've had horrible luck with charbroil grills (2 of them barely lasting 1 year, before something falling apart, breaking,or rusting through, and their lack of quality.

Modified to add,They do give you all the tools to put together, a screw driver, and a couple of crappy punched out of a single sheet of metal wrenches

i have a weber gas grill that's been used exactly 1 season. I got into charcoal, and kept the gasser as a "backup" ... it hasn't been uncovered in years. it's going on CL soon

Everyone has different needs and preferences. The dual gas/charcoal is for people who like to swing both ways.

The adjustable charcoal rack makes adjusting the heat easy and convenient. Thanks OP! I got it as a gift from my grandma.

Use the propane during the week when you want a burger but don't have the time to do charcoal. Then on the weekend you can fire up the charcoal grill for a good steak..
