Alternatively, if you would prefer the Custom version with the larger trigger, more pronounced sights, and stainless steel guide rod...that version is $229.99 shipped right now. That price is comparable to frequent $219.99 sales at KyGunCo if you factor in the credit card fee: http://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuper.../ID/152046

Custom (if either) would be my choice. I think well worth the upgrade price from what I have read. unfortunately I have not fired either. I rented the LCP once and it gave me a FTE first shot. I promptly switched to a Glock 42 to test, which ran better but also had a couple FTE's. May have been filthy, and/or related to their reload ammo they require to shoot with the rentals, but left a bad taste in my mouth (TWSS). I would love to test fire the Custom version. Thanks for the post and reps of course.

yeah i prefer the Custom one. i tried a buddy's and liked it a lot so i grabbed one during a KyGunCo a while back. haven't had any issues with FTE's and it doesn't seem picky to ammo either. i've gone through Freedom reman, Freedom new, and Perfecta from Walmart. the LCP has been great for the summer, barely even know it's there. i have a IWB that can double as a pocket holster and it's a great option even when wearing mesh shorts (the LC9S Pro that i normally use as my CCW wouldn't work well with mesh shorts...it would pull them down too much lol)

don't fret over the rental giving you issues...it likely wasn't maintained properly. for all you know, it could be rebuilt improperly or something who knows.

That is how I looked at it to some degree, either maintenance, cleaning or crappy ammo issues, but the whole point for me for rentals is to test out a gun before making a purchase. I rent a specific model for that reason. They really should maintain them better. I am sure they get plenty of renters who really don't care much if they have issues since they don't own the gun themselves.
Also it is hypocritical to make me buy their reloads vs using my own new FMJ ammo for "safety" reasons.
Nice try. More like for sales reasons. LMAO So I buy a box of theirs and shoot a box of mine after blowing through theirs. Maybe that is range specific, I hope.

I bought the regular lcp for $200 from Gander Mountain a few weeks ago. I wanted the custom but for as much as I will shoot it I was ok with the regular.

For people thinking about getting this as a first gun, find a nice size 9mm that you are comfortable with. The Lcp is definitely not fun to shoot.

I also have a dual purpose IWB/pocket holster and carry Iwb most of the time and like Medic says, you can hardly tell you're carrying it.

I own both versions. The custom really only has one thing different... The sights, which I hate. They are too tall and catch on everything when pocket carrying. The red trigger is cool looking and different, but offers zero advantage except wider trigger shoe. The stainless steel guide rod has no real advantage over the steel guide rod.

In the end, the custom sights are nice for target shooting, but I don't know anyone dumb enough to use it for target shooting. It's a pocket gun, you shoot a magazine or two through it every range trip and that's all because it's like getting kicked in the balls.

I also own a custom and can vouch, that it's not given me a single problem.
