Google Nexus 7(2012) How to go back to Kit Kat

magicalorange 30 18 August 4, 2016 at 09:36 PM
My Google Nexus(2012) is not working well. I think its soft bricked or close to it because sometimes I can play games on it for a little while and sometimes it keeps rebooting . I've been reading and it sounds like I may be able to fix it if I revert the operating system to Kit Kat. It hasn't behaved right since I updated it to Lollipop.

The problem is I don't understand what the directions are talking about. They mention something about ROM and flashing. It sounds like I have to connect the tablet with USB to a laptop. Could someone explain how to in easy terms or suggest a site that may be able to.

I don't recommend going back to KitKat, it has some major security vulnerabilities.

Backup anything you care about and perform a factory reset. As you reload things make sure you always maintain at least 800mb of free space, eliminate anything you don't actually use. I've noticed lollipop is most unstable if free space drops below 600mb.

If that doesn't work, I'd try a cyanogenmod build of lollipop before you attempt to downgrade.

Why do conservative politicians oppose conservation?
Have you ever stopped to think the long-term GOP immigration policy might be to make the United States of America a less desirable place to live than Mexico?

I have about 6GB of free space. I was reading that its a problem with the google nexus 7(asus) and lollipop. A factory reset usually doesn't work. Thanks for responding.

I strongly suggest you try a factory reset and then if problems pop up again clearing you cache or data for a particular app before you attempt to downgrade.

As I said would try a lollipop cyanogenmod build before downgrading back to kitkat
