This seems like a good deal, but nowhere does it mention the warranty. If it's grey market it may be extremely hard to get repaired. It is listed as new.

I got that lens but am not thrilled with the quality of the images. Has anyone compared the two?

This is a great lense. Been using this as my primary lense for quite a few years now. This price is what I paid used for this a while back. Worth every penny.

Anyone knows how the PQ on this compared to canon 18-130mm versatile lens? Will it be an upgrade or downgrade?. Looking at Amazon reviews, lot of people complained about focus issues on this lens and soft picture even on normal lighting. I am skeptical after reading those reviews. Trying to get feedback from fellow SDer.

Is this one good as Canon 18-135mm lens? I have the Canon 18-135mm that is very good, wonder if it is worth to replace?

Pros: 1. Cheap 2. good focal stability at lower ranges <200mm......
Cons: 1. Purple fringes will be high 2. Poor build quality compared to Canon 3. @ Full zoom (270mm) too hard to focus and click. 4. Poor color contrast

Owned super zooms like this in the past. Never happy with them. Here's a list showing the apertures at different focal lengths

18-24mm------f3.5
25-33mm------f4
34-45mm------f4.5
46-69mm------f5.0
70-168mm-----f5.6
169-270mm---f6.3

I own a Canon 20D now just so I can still have a DSLR.(Previously owned a 5DII)

I much prefer a few primes and MAYBE something like a Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8. But, ONLY if it's the constant aperture. I don't see the benefit of sacrificing light coming in the lens for ridiculous focal length. Not to say that lenses like this will take decent shots in bright sunlight. But, still, zooming with your feet is much more fun and involved.

The 30mm at the telephoto end is worthless to compare.

The 2mm at the wide end IS a difference.

I bought this exact lens 3 years ago for full price at $700 after tax... worst decision ever.

For $200 I'd sell all my kit lenses and buy this as my go to vacation lens and never look back.
