BuyDig

PaintShop Pro X8 will be added to cart along with the camera

Back in stock w/ Nikon Leather Digital Camera Case added to cart as well (same price)

Apply promo code HDPICS in cart to drop the price to $89

Product Link [buydig.com]

Current TIV at Amazon [amazon.com] (subject to change) ranges from $70 - $107, But my experience with Nikon refurbs is that they come in perfect condition, but one of the requirements is "Original packaging" so not sure the white box that refurbs come in would work. I think getting $89 TIV is a safer bet.

caveat emptor: Nikon 'factory refurbished" have only a 90-day warranty.

Link to specs on Nikon.com [nikon.com]

20x optical zoom

Sensor size: 1/2.3" (same as most inexpensive point & shoot cameras)

you're not going to get a 20x optical zoom w/ the S7, if that's important to you.
Bought this camera for my father last Christmas. Take up one last time it was on the site for $80 as a refurb

Pros
+Small lightweight fits in the pockets very easy
+Takes great pictures.
+Video is also great. Audio is great, unless in high wind (no camera is good there)
+16 megapixels means it takes huge pictures. I blew up to poster size and looked amazing.
+ 20x zoom is Amazing. You can focus in on things fairly far away great for candies
+ The large res images are great if you want to crop in on subject you could not zoom in close enough using programs
+++ Biggest Pro is yet has the ability to transfer images directly to smart phones or tablets using a Wi-Fi signal Basically you push a button and the camera gives off a Wi-Fi signal. You go to your device and select the camera as your Wi-Fi source. They have an app that you can use to transfer the photos to your phone or tablet and it'll change the resolution so you're not using up too much space on your device
+Since the images are so large it is nice to have the app to shrink them to a size suitable for sending over email or posting places that don't allow you to use large images

CONS
- Tons of settings. To the point where it can be confusing if you're not used to Point and shoot cameras. If the white balance for example is not set to auto you can end up with tons of orange images and not know why.
- Focus - back to the settings there are several different methods or settings you can use to select your focus. Sometimes the camera will not focus on what you want to be
- Focus again . Sometimes I can't get an image to be clear or sharp enough and it gets fuzzy. Or I can wait till it is in focus snapped a picture and when I check it it is slightly blurry. Sucks I get home and realize the picture didnt turn out
- The selector on top of camera has a habit of turning one in my pocket so when I want to take a quick shot all of I am in the wrong mode
- The app for transferring photos to your devices is hard to get the hang out for some people. My dad calls me every single time he uses it because it is not an intuitive process. The iPad app is basically the same size as it is on an iPhone unless you hit the button that doubles and then it is still way too small for your tablet screen. It does the job but takes a lot of getting used to

Once you get used to using the camera and all of the settings it is a great little camera. However there are times it just ticks me off wherever the scene scene washed out and I'm hesitant to take a picture. I take the picture and it looks wonderful. It just takes a bit of familiarization to know what to expect

Also the focus issue I mentioned candy irritating until you get used to how the camera works it took me two months before I realize that if I zoom out it tended to focus better and then I can always re-crop on my computer

All in all it's a great little camera. In fact I am buying another for my sister for an upcoming trip.
Yes this murders any smartphone due to a much bigger camera sensor, and bigger lens allowing for much better low light performance, it also has 20 optical zoom, with any smartphone anytime you zoom in your loosing quality, not with a point and shoot like this. LED flash is much brighter than any smartphone.

I have this camera, bought refurb (was like new) from BuyDig, and it's excellent; sharp well balanced pictures and wide angle.

I also would like to know if it's worth keeping a midrange smartphone and buy this or just wait for the s7 to drop down in price.

If you're only interested in taking selfies and shots of things that are nearby, your phone will do just fine. If you want shots at a distance, this.
