Would I see noticeable improvements if I upgraded to the 850 pro from the 840 evo?

FYI: 750 has 3yr warranty vs 850 pro has 10yr and 850 evo (not pro) has 5 yr.

Only consider it for the capacity jump. In a year or two the 10 year warranty won't matter because you'll want the PCI-E version of the bigger and faster SSD.

I'm thinking about the 750 250gb. Is this a good price?

Only a slight improvement. I agree with Merconium - only consider it if you're short on space. Otherwise, I would pass. (I know the price is tempting, but unless you desperately need one, I would still pass).

Don't be discouraged. Frys had it on sale twice last month (also on sale in May for $189) - so I wouldn't doubt it if it goes on sale again in the near future.

BTW, both times it was available for online shipping and they sold out very quickly.

average user will not notice a difference. I've had both the 840 and 850, as well some SanDisk ssds, and my rmbp which uses pcie.....I can't tell the difference unless I'm moving huge files 30+ gigs, and even then its slight.

Repped.

There's a lot of half baked SSD experts on this site who think they know something because they've read an article or two. They claim there's a significant difference when in reality, they have NOTHING to back it up with other than the fantasy in their heads.

People need to read and then re-read cg618's post and burn it into their memory.

They sold the one they had in stock for shipping at the warehouse.
