I happen to own both, so here are my thoughts.

Camera: no difference. Reviews say the two phones use the exact same hardware module for the rear-facing camera. The selfie camera on the 6P is of higher quality, if that matters to you.

Build: the 6P definitely has a more premium build. Metal case and it's thinner than the 5X.

Display: the 6P has a gorgeous 1440P display, vs 1080P on the 5X. Much higher ppi and much brighter colors.

Sound: the 6P has two front-facing speakers, the 5X has one rather anemic speaker. Doesn't everyone use headphones though anyway?

Performance: no contest. The 6P not only has a faster processor, it has an extra gigabyte of RAM, which makes a big difference in launching and switching apps.

Battery: the 6P has a bigger battery and is supposed to last longer, despite the bigger screen. Personally I don't see much difference. Both of them will get through a full day and that's about it. Obviously this is highly variable and depends on your usage.

Ergonomics: the 5X is definitely much easier to hold and operate with one hand, and fits much nicer in the pocket.

Bottom line, the 6P is a flagship phone at a reasonable price. The 5X is cheaper in every way, but also much more portable. It depends on which traits you value more.

Hope this helped!

Put price in title and links don't work correctly. Other than that you are golden.

In real-world experience for most users, how much better is this 6P than the Nexus 5X? And in what ways? Camera, battery, sound/volume, signal-strength, etc.? If you're not a power user/heavy gamer, is it worth spending an extra $125 or so to get the Nexus 6P instead of a 5X?

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!

I don't own either, but I'm in the market to buy and had the same question. Based on reading reviews, I'm under the impression that there aren't large differences in capabilities; the differences are pretty minor. The significant difference is in the build quality--plastic vs metal.
