How do you use dropdown menus on touch screen and Windows 10?

roykirk1 735 166 August 7, 2016 at 08:36 AM

Recently got a Windows Tablet. Like it, mostly. Upgraded to Windows 10. But even on Windows 8.1, I noticed an annoying problem...

On sites that have a dropdown menu, how do you select the second/third/fourth/etc options
? If I tab on the dropdown label, I see the full list, but within 1-2 seconds, without me selecting anything, Windows selects the top value and takes me there! Very frustrating.

Is there some option I can flip to turn this auto selection off??

Does that work for you? When I touch and hold, the menu appears, but as soon as I left go, it jumps to whatever the first value in the dropdown is.

Follow the below steps and hope that it helps:
Open the Task manager. Here’s a tip: Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
Click File > Run New Task.
Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”.
Type CMD and click on Ok.
Type the following 3 commands in the CMD prompt each at a time:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Close the CMD window.

Try selecting the menu and then bringing up onscreen keyboard. See if u can use tab or up down arrows to select menu items. Press enter to select.
