This has apparently expired? The "See Deal" link takes you to Fry's, where the receiver is listed as $1000...

They had the VSX-90 for $388 last week, as well. And the Denon x2300 this week for $500. Trying to decide if the Class D amps are worth the step up in price.

Good deal for those who really need a receiver now, but I'm waiting for this price (OK, I'll go up to $700) on the SC-95.

Seems like killer deals on the higher-end receivers have dried up over the past couple of years. I got the Pioneer SC-1522K (basically the identically performing and functioning non-elite version of 2012's SC-65) at Costco three years ago. It's gonna keep on kickin' for me until a comparable deal comes along on the current-gen receivers.

BTW, does anyone know if Pioneer is planning to release a 2016 series of Elite SC receivers? Seems like they'd be out by now. Yamaha's already had the Aventage xx60 2016 receivers out for a few months now.

Read one review saying no sound difference between SC-91 and SC-95 .
But Magnolia guys I talked to at three BestBuystores(all SC-95 sold out at my area) claim huge sound improvement because of better DAC on SC-95. Thought the D3 power is almost same between these two.
So i am not sure if I should pay $500 more for SC-95.

I'm regretting not biting on the vsx 90 for $388 last week.

The guy at my local Magnolia said no difference in sound (in my setup) from the sc91 to the 95. He actually pushed me to the Marantz-SR 1510 (or this year's equivalent) on his claim that it was best for 2 channel music.

I returned VSX90 because of lacking of power to drive my ProAc 140 speakers for 2 channel music.
Four years old Sony 1040 did a better job than VSX90 in playing 2 channel music.

Thought SC-91 does playing movie better than 1040 but Sony 1040 just has more dynamic and details for music playing. But once setup SC-91 to bi-amp , man, now music sounds so so good ! bigger soundstage and much more dynamic than 1040. amazing...

I have an Energy RC setup, but in a smallish room. I didn't think biamping made much difference, maybe I'll give it a shot. Currently have an x2200 on order, until it arrives I'm keeping my eyes open for something better.

No DTS:X on this. How important is that?
