I just went and cancelled my NFL Sunday Ticket since my free year expired last year and came across this way to save money, hopefully it works for others who plan to keep their package.

If you go into your account on the DirecTV website, go into My Programming and click the X button next to Sunday Ticket. It will pop up an offer to save $5 a month on the package. Click No and it should pop up another offer to save $9 a month. If you click No again it will actually cancel Sunday Ticket. Good luck!
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Thanks for the heads up SharkLaser!

I went ahead and called just to see what was available. Unfortunately the only deal that was offered was the $9 off X 6 months. Not much savings and definitely not Slick! I asked for cancellations hoping they had something available to cut the high cost of the ST. I spoke to a rep there that offered me the same $9 off for six months. He said that was all that was available on the ST, but there were a few discounts available for my account that could offset the cost of the ST subscription.

Ended up getting:
$9/month for ST
$40.00/month discount on Premier package X $12 months
$14.00/month discount on HBO/Starz
$14.00/month for Cinemax/Showtime
$2.50/month for HD Extras package
$99.50/month for the next 6-12 months

Full disclosure: I've been with DTV for 18 years and have the Premier package. The cancellation reps are usually pretty willing to make deals. Consumer loyalty paying off. Hard to believe nowadays.

I'd be surprised if some straight ST discounts didn't start popping up as the regular season gets closer.

Go Saints!

Looks like no one has really had much success with getting Sunday Ticket cut down.

Yep, I was shocked. I have been getting Sunday Ticket since around 2006-7.
Every year I hate calling and doing the dance.
I am not the d-bag who calls and threatens to cancel their service unless I get it for free, I just want a fair price.
To me, around $200 for everything (Max) is a great deal and I that is my goal every year. I usually get it without much effort.
This year, the auto turned on Ticket for 6 payments of $60, $360 to which I say no f'n way.
I call to turn that off and see what promos they are offering, expecting at least to get the laugh in my face $9 off or some other discount to offset.
The nice lady said she will check, (oh and thanks for being a loyal customer). Comes back and asks what I like about Sunday Ticket, etc, put me on hold again and I get this...

Sorry, there are no promotions, would you like me to continue to cancel NFLST from your account?

Yes please.

I couldn't believe it. There must have been some strong mandate from on top to stop the deals.

I actually don't mind passing this year.

No more blacked out games for my Bucs, and how many games a week aren't on ST? 3?

Also proud not to give the Ginger Hammer a nickel.

(Of course I will fold like a tent if they end up offering me a good deal)

Got my first bill with Sunday Ticket - payment 1 of 6 @$44.99.

Called - got $9.00 month off ST, upgrade to Sunday Ticket Max. Told the rep that was still too much for the ST - we would drop Dtv and go with cable, so was transferred.

Got customer retention - offered $40/month off for 12 months. Works for me!

Did something similar the ohter night.
Got the $9 off ST each month, plus $50 off my service each month for the next year.
could have gotten more if i did the dance of scheduling a date to cancel service but it was a good enough deal for now.

I believe that it's harder to get a deal this year vs. years past because of the merger with AT&T. They are really trying to play hardball but we'll see if that changes leading up to the start of the season.

Called today and DirecTV offered me NFL Sunday Ticket Max for $215.94 ($269.94 minus $9 off per mo./ for 6 mos.). I think last year I got it for $200. Went ahead a took it. I think I was on hold for like 45 minutes. Maybe it's just me but the wait times on the phone seem worse than before the AT&T merger.

I set up my cancellation today. let's see how it plays out. The rep said "if you go to dish, you won't have Sunday ticket" I replied "if it isn't free, I won't have it anyway, I'll just have a much lower monthly cost." she was silent for a little bit.

my cancellation fee is $180. If I do leave, I'll save that in about 5 months on a new customer promo...

Hello all, I just called to get this deal and the first person just offered like $9 off a month so I said transfer me to Customer Loyalty and the person said that he could do that but would need a manager's approval or he could offer the Sunday Ticket Max for 6 mo for $14.99 about $90 and $30 off for 24 months and I asked for a Showtime deal and that's free for 90 days and will stop unless you call to get it and sign up for it and also Stars for 90 days at $7.00 off the $13.99 and if you don't cancel it will be $13.99 after the 90 days. Overall a good deal!

I just wanted to repay the info I have got here on SlickDeals!
