YMMV

Went to my local Office Depot here LA County to buy a Surface 3 (not Pro) for their advertised price of $249.99 on sale. At the website, it said in-store purchase only. Website showed none available at all stores. I called the store to see if they could order it. Person who answered said yes. I went to the store only to find out that they could not. I was a little unhappy as it was a long ride, and this was for a birthday present I was buying. Store manager felt bad for the aggravation and upsold me on the Pro 4 128 GB, with I5 processor. They discounted me $250 (basically the cost of the Surface 3) as a courtesy. They still had to order it for me as it was not in stock, and they also coded the receipt in a way so it couldn't be price matched. Just putting it out there to my fellow SD'ers. May be worth a shot. Fyi, they receipt shows that the discount was a price match, although that was not the case. Maybe prices will drop soon? Good luck.

Remember this is a YMMV.

this is definitely repeatable but I would need the OP to please post a copy of their mug showing the exact amount of aggravation so I can try it at my local OD.

Hell yeah! Big time! I didn't really even complain. They went out of their way to help. Not just the manager, but the guy that told me to come in was very apologetic. He went to the manager and told them what occurred. Very cool.

Nice deal, but I say the chances of replicating are near zero. Enjoy your surface pro!

Seriously. I expressed a small amount of unhappiness, and told them thanks and started to leave, when the floor associate said that he wanted to ask his manager if they could help. It was that simple. I was blown away by their level of excellent customer service.

I went to my local Office Depot to pick up a hard drive and have it price match to Walmart. To be fair, it was an extreme PM but a legitimate pm, and I had all the info right there on my mobile. After seeing the Walmart product page, the store manager went away for a while, like for 15 minutes. She came back and told me that the price shown on the Walmart page was not for the hard drive but just for the 2-yr protection plan. LOL. I pointed out that the product ID was clearly for a hard dive. She wouldn't budge. In fact, she game me an disgusted look.

And sometimes they are morons and unhelpful. Like it would kill them to help in the slightest way, which is why I posted my experience. I don't get why they won't PM if the item is out of stock or on backorder either. If its an advertised price it should be honored.
