According to the Q&A on this product, based on the product image it's the 2012 version.

Don't do the 2012 version. I have it and love it but now underpowered. 2013 version is still pretty decent. Still one of the best.

2012 model is super old. Nexus devices aren't always the best on the market either when they first come out.

The Nexus 2013 model has touchscreen issues. I bought 30 for a customer and all are affected. So while they are super nice tablets with wireless charging, they can be frustrating.

Best bet is to buy a LG or Samsung. Verizon LG X.8.3 can be had super cheap. I picked up 2 off ebay for $37 each.

I use a 2012 version my friend didn't want anymore in my kitchen. It streams video just fine while I'm cooking (I use Kodi), has voice control of the timer (thanks to Google Now), is great when I want to look up a recipe but, you know, don't see the need to own cook books anymore (thanks to the internet). I can connect to my security cameras (with TinyCam Pro) and with Tasker I've used it to flash a specific light I installed by my computer when the timer is done (in case I can't hear the timer over my audio). It runs Cyanogen no problem and I've made various tweaks to it with that. Overall, I can't say whether its worth $60 to you, but I've made my dinky little kitchen into a sweet smart kitchen with my 2012 Nexus 7. It even syncs with my phone and pushes recipes to it so when I go shopping I know exactly what ingredients I need. I'm sure it can do much more, but I only explore as much as my personal wants demand.

Wireless charging on the nexus 7? That's news to me. Posting this on one.

I have the 13 and the 12. the 12 runs unbearably slow with lollipop. I can't seem to find the fix.

Yes, I think it was the first tablet with the wireless charging feature and FHD screen. I'm a proud owner and it's still rocking.

I had 3 of the 2013 models, and 1 had touchscreen issues (wouldn't respond to touch at random times). I sent it back, and got a replacement that has been without issue.

I still highly recommend it. I also own Samsung tablets (4 of them), and they are all woefully underpowered except the higher end models. I personally wouldn't recommend anything from Samsung's lower (cheaper) end. You also give up the FHD screen with the lower end Samsungs, and likely LG tabs too, as well as NFC, wireless charging, etc.

Install a custom ROM from xda-developers. I have the 2012 version also and hated it due to the slowness. After using one of the custom ROMS, I didn't experience the sluggishness anymore.

I've had couple of both the 2012 and 2013 models. There's really no comparison: the 2013 Nexus 7 is still a great tablet, and I've been using mine without problems for years. The wireless Qi charging is a great feature. The 2012 model was just okay - maybe with a custom ROM it could be faster, but this might disappear after some usage since I believe it has hardware problems with trim.
