This is a pretty fully-specified version of the XPS 13 at $200 off for Costco members. Shipping is $15, or buy at your local Costco (they have them in Houston, I know).

Find a nearby state with no sales tax (e.g. Delaware) for even greater savings -- on a purchase this large, could save over $100 depending on your home state.

The XPS 13 is about the lightest laptop available today -- about the size of a 11 inch laptop, but with a 13 inch screen. I still have some life left in my Macbook Pro Retina, but my guess is an XPS 13 is in my future. I've played with them and Dell has done a great job.

I don't understand the thumbs down. I haven't found the deal lower than this for the 16GB version. I'm in market for XPS 13 with 16gb for work and most likely will buy from costco towards the end of the deal 8/21. So there 90 day return policy will put me close to thanksgiving. If I find way better deal at that time then will just return it.

There's not great acceptance on Slickdeals for the fact that the lightest/smallest laptop form factors command substantial premiums. Many folks will rightly point out that some computer that's only a pound or so heavier costs a lot less money, and that the XPS isn't a gaming machine. But those who value lightness/smallness really value it. There's a reason why XPS 13s command the premiums they do -- same deal for Apple notebooks.

it's a good deal. you can probably sell off the office key if you don't need it too. the display and 16gb is hard to find deals on.

I have an XPS 13 with a 1080p matte display, 8GB of RAM, an i5-6200u, and a 128gb SSD that I got from an outlet deal a few months ago for around $550. I've been loving it. I wouldn't get the 4k panel, it's glossy and reflects light easily. With the matte 1080p panel you not only save a ton of money but it's viewable in direct sunlight. Plus is saves on the power consumption.

It is a good amount of money but it is one of the best laptops you can get for these specs and size. The screen is amazing
