Thread Details

Sears is having a sale on its automotive batteries - 25% off the normal price and $10 points back. However, all the Shop Your Way coupons still apply (that really depends on your coupons though). My battery was $125 retail:

1. $125 normal price - 25% = $94
2. Get $10 in points.
3. Add a $5 filler.
4. Apply $15 off $100.
5.Apply $15 in points on $75.
---------

Total for the battery before taxes is $80 (and $5 for the filler) and you get $25 back in points. You can also use your favorite cashback site.

You might want to change your title before you get flooded with TDs. $80 for a $125 battery is not 50% off. Points are not the same as cash.

While I agree with the math / phrasing being off... I jumped on this deal, thanks. $190 full price battery was $127 for me, but with $56+ in points back. The price I paid wound up beating the best deal I could manage with coupons at Advanced, plus I get all those points.

Thanks! I'm getting $20 in points back, so this is definitely worth it. I have a car with a dead battery and have bee looking for a Die Hard to go on sale.

Advanceauto has sometimes $50 coupon and better deal on their batteries. What's so special of diehard batteries?

mine is 73.06 after earning $35 in points - including installation for $10. I think I will bite. Do points ever expire?

Read around - Advance Auto "Autocraft" batteries are not what they used to be....

I've never had any problems with my several Autocraft batteries, but I have heard good things about DieHard. If the price was the same or close, I'd likely go with the DieHard.

In all fairness, I don't think most auto batteries are what they used to be...

Seems it's more important to know who actually makes their batteries, like Johnson Controls, Exide, etc. 10 years back, my DieHard from Sears was made by Johnson Controls.

How do these sale prices compare to Costco?

Advanceauto has the same pricing for their batteries as Sears, and I have not seen $50 in quite a while, plus usually $50 is for the first 1000 visitors or so. $50 off $125 battery does not bring you to $60 I got at Sears (I agree, not everyone needs points though). I did use that $50 coupon on Advanceauto top-tier battery before, but like I said - I have not seen $50 off in a long time.

Audvanceauto batteries seem to work fine except they appear to leak at the top or something - I have a corrosion on top of my battery even though terminals are screw-in style on the side, which never happened with my previous 'Interstate' battery. Also, I promptly stripped one of the terminals on the very first install (no, I was not too hard on it). Store manager refused to exchange it and instead gave me a large-threaded bolt.

According to SD, the last AAP $50 off coupon was posted more than a year ago:

With what I described you get $45 off and $25 in points. What's not to like?

you should be able t to use a 25 off 100 coupon. It stacked about 2 weeks ago on the same promotion. My battery was more than $100 after the initial promo. I Have an extra 25 off 100 coupon, if someone wants to trade a $5 amazon e-giftcard. Send me the battery link, and I'll test it first to make sure it works. battery must be over $100, after the initial promo in order for the $25 off $100 will work
