I had a mailer from Academy and noticed a rebate on a Remington 870 Express. Price is $289.99 - $50 MIR = $239.99 + tax, which is a great price for a solid shotgun. Academy flier image is attached. I also found the Remington rebates page and note that these rebates are valid for purchases 8/1/16 through 9/30/16. It looks like the rebate is good at any retailer and I saw that Cabelas.com also shows rebates available.

Remington rebates page here [remington.com].

Remington Ammo: [remington.com]
Express XLR & Nitro Steel - $5/box up to $100/person
Core-Lokt - $2.50/box up to $5/person

Remington Firearms: [remington.com]
Model 700 BDL/CDL Rifles - $100
Versa Max Shotguns - $100
Versa Max Sportsman Shotguns - $75
Model 700 SPS Rifles - $75
Model 11-87 Shotguns - $75
Model 870 Express Shotguns - $50
Model 700 ADL Rifles - $50
Model 783 Rifles - $40

Stopped shopping Academy after they decided that their mean looking rifles were just too mean to keep out on the floor.

I'd recommend freedom ammo co. Sign up with email and you'll get great deals on new and reconditioned shells.

Is it just in CA that shotguns are not sold at Walmart B+W?

Guns are usually a decent deal, especially used or with rebates. If you take care of them, they almost never decrease in value. This is not always true when you include inflation. But compare how well guns hold value to a phone or a computer. You get to use the gun for 20 years and still can sell it for as much or more than you paid for it. And it will last a couple hundred years with proper care. I still hunt with a 30-06 my father in law made from a mauser 98 action and douglas barrel in the late 1950s or early 1960s. And my kids can hunt with that gun in 30 years too.

Thanks OP. Was hoping for a rebate on the R25 GII this quarter. Oh well, may wait for next year on that one.

if you want a good one for self defense look at the Mossberg 88 Maverick, should be around $200 without dealing with a rebate.

Yeah I was thinking that but isn't the 870 a better gun overall?
