Seems like this will be the normal price for months to come since the new DT1770 and DT1990 are out in the wild but of course cost more.

Still a great price for those that want to try out the Beyer sound signature (google a bit more about how the new DT1770 and DT1990 are an upgrade from the DT770 and DT990 or go to head-fi.org for more info)

i dont think those are necessarily an upgrade and at 3x the cost, not sure if one can say that too

I wasn't considering the price for the new ones to be an upgrade. The price on the new ones will drop to what the DT770 and DT990 were going for.

Just give it a year or 2 and the prices will hover around th 170 to 200 for the DT1770 or DT1990.

And I may have exaggerated the upgrade a bit but they did fix some of the little bitty issues the DT770 and DT990 had....

I always wonder what the difference between the 250 ohm and 250 ohm pro. So I have test between of that. The Premium model has a little less clamping force than the pro model. While this opens up the sound stage a tiny bit it also reduces the bass by a tiny bit. The only other difference is the looks of the headset and the cable they use. On the Pro it is a coiled cable that is sometimes a pain to deal with while the Premium is a long straight cable. Finally your Sound Blaster Z will work just fine with these that is what I am using to power my 250 ohm Pro model.

Just a heads up to potential buyers, these are 250 Ohm high-impedance headphones, so you might have trouble driving them with your mobile devices. You might consider a headphone amp as well.

Just FYI - The Cosmos Velvet replacement pads for the AKG K240 [amazon.com], under $10 on Amazon, work great on the Beyer line of headphones. I was not going to spend $35 on replacement pads for a sub-$200 headphone (DT990) and so I tried those on a whim and they work great. They are much easier to install and remove to clean, etc.

Not as quality as the Beyer pads out of the package but after a couple of months the fabric softened a bit and feel very similar now. Also flattened out a bit so the sound is much more similar to a new pair of Beyer pads. They are thicker and slightly stiffer when new so the sound changes a bit. But overall the sound signature is very similar, without measuring it. Any comfort or sound difference is not worth the $28 difference in price.

Was over the moon when they worked because I was not going to spend $35 on new pads and the all around Brainwavz HM5 are less than ideal for the Beyer's.

As far as the music goes, pretty bassy and especially suited for rap and hard core techo music with a deep bass line. The pure highs are a bit lacking. But this is a bass head's headphone and I love them. Thanks OP!!

Did the deal with fiio a3 amp and I feel like it hasn't reached anything special. I ran it off my Note4 with the amp and I don't really notice anything that would make it special. But when hooked up to my onelink basic docking station ( for my thinkpad thinkpad) there was definitely more oomph. I just recently ordered a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) and I hope to hear an improvement on sound.
