Too bad it's not lithium re-chargeable.

If you have lots of D cells laying around this may be a deal though.

If you're going to get a 4D camping lantern for $25, this is one to consider:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-T...n/34349999

Compared to this deal, it outputs double the lumens. It has a rotary dial with 8 or 9 brightness settings, including a low-glare night mode.

21 hours at 500 lumens, 720 hours at 30 lumens, and 68 hours at 75 lumens (indirect mode). I have used mine for 3 multi-day camping trips and about a dozen hours of power outages, and am yet to break out a new set of batteries.

It doesn't collapse like the one from this deal, but with a 4D lantern, you are probably car camping, not backpacking.

This lantern has been around since at least 2010. There are others for not that much more ($5-10 not on sale) that should also be considered, like the one above and these off the top of my head:

UST 30-day Lantern [amazon.com] (brand name FWIW)

3-D cells
Low - 29 lumens - 720 hours (30-day) <-- verified at 33-days by a review
Med - 150 lumens - 84 hours (3.5 days)
High - 300 lumens - 32 hours
SOS-mode (hidden)
Removable cover (to be used as a down light), Rubberized housing, Water resistant, etc
1.4 W Nichia LEDs, weights 1 pound. They also make a 10 and 60 day versions as well as a Micro.

Streamlight Seige [amazon.com]

3 D cells, has 5 C4 LEDs (1 red)
5 output modes
High (340/ Lumens / 30 hours)
Medium (175 Lumens / 70 hours)
Low (33 Lumens / 235 hours)
Red (10 Lumens / 235 hours)
Red SOS flashing modes (430 hours)
floats and is IPX-7 rated waterproof

I have a 3D cell and 3AA cell Streamlight seige lights and they seem really nice. I'm just waiting for a power outage to use them. The light in the OP sells for $75 from Amazon (less from 3rd party). If I didn't already have the 2 Streamlights I would grab the Black Diamond in a heatbeat. Very tempting at $25!

Quit buying cheap lights people. In emergencies or when camping you should surround yourself with quality equipment because your life and the life of others may depend upon that equipment.
