Just my 2 cents. first off, this will be one of the nicest, highest quality items you may ever buy. If you take proper care of it this will last you your entire lifetime. And your children's. and maybe their kids... This is not some thin cheap pot from a discount store is my point.

I do not own this actual dutch oven. But I own a lot of cast iron skillets, grills, etc. If you do not have something cast iron like this, this is an completely difference level of cooking. It holds the heat well, can be used on the stove or in the oven, and moved back and forth from both.

PLUS i a way you are getting a 10" skillet with the lid if you flip it over The lid can be reversed and used on the stove as well. it isn't as deep as a skillet obviously but can still be used as such for eggs, bacon, browning meats or whatever.

Side note, I actually have the lid. I bought it from the clearance section from a Lodge outlet store in Tenn.

My advice - look for recipes on the internet and experiment. I predict you may end up getting more and more cast iron once you get this. I will only be "worth it" if you use it.

Can the skillet be used with an electric stove top?

I gave someone a dutch oven once as a surprise. They didn't seem to appreciate it much though...

YES. But I will say a few things:
1) I would be careful with sliding it around too much. I doubt it would scratch the surface, and if you just set it on the cooktop it should be 100% fine. But I would not swirl it around etc. while on it if that makes sense.

2) I know this is a pretty obvious and dumb statement, but this is extremely heavy. especially the dutch over part. So would want to be careful not to bang it down on the cooktop. I know that is a pretty "well duh..." statement, but if you have kids, teens etc that cook it isn't the same as kind of plopping a fairly lightweight metal pot onto the stove.

But YES it will work. It will also work on a induction cooktop.

Remember can also go into the oven.

We've owned one of these for a couple months now and love it. The design is great, especially for people like us who live in a small apartment and don't have room for a ton of different pots and pans.

Most of those reps are from back in the day when the community was smaller and people actually repped. My first FP deal was like 500 reps. Granted, that was a Sears programming logic mistake...people always love shopping cart exploits more than a straight up good deal. But this deal last time got me like 28 reps. laugh out loud

Yes. I use my cast iron on electric, and don't think twice.

You really only have to worry about induction, because it's easy to scratch the glass top.
