Yessss, thank you OP. This is the last part on my build. I know it's not a 'slick' deal but it's a fair price given the norm of 299.99-309.99, so I will take it.

This is one of the best CPUs and the top value for common CPU. Typically closer to $400.

It is more optimized for gaming, due to its superior single-core performance by cost (most games use 1 core) than 6800k or 6900k which are more expensive

While this is a fair comparison, I would argue the i5 would be a better value for gaming performance as most get no benefit from Hyperthreading.

Yes, true. i7 not the best price/perf for gaming applications. Most people just want it to say they have it.

i5 6500 is hands down the best bang for your buck.

"i5" - yes, so helpful.

Isn't there more than 1 type of Core i5 CPU? Rolleyes2

I believe currently, the only other unlocked i5 variant is the 6600K (until Kaby Lake).

Microcenter charges sales tax in all the states that they have a B&M store located in. (By my count they have a store in atleast 15 different states).
Newegg does not charge tax except for CA and NJ residents.

I'd love to be able to buy at Microcenter, but they don't have a store in Utah. Their website has this qualification which hinders vast swaths of the united states from purchasing from them. "AVAILABLE FOR IN-STORE PICKUP ONLY."
