pcRush has the HP Pavilion 17-g133cl 17” Refurbished laptop for sale for $473.73 with free shipping purchased through pricefalls.com. I have been looking for this configuration at this price since I missed it as a Frontpage Slickdeal in March.
Specs
• AMD Quad-Core A10-8780P APU Processor
• 17.3” WLED Backlit Touchscreen 1920 x 1080
• 12GB DDR3 SDRAM (2DIMM)
• 1TB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
• Radeon R7 M360 Graphics with 2048 MB DDR3 and up to 6912MB Total Graphics
• Full Size Backlit Keyboard with numeric key pad
• Super Multi DVD Burner
• Window 10
• 6.74 lbs.

Amazon - $550 (+tax for me)
Newegg - $509 (replacement only no return)
pcRush - $498.66 (website direct & Ebay)
Ebay – Varies from $500 to $550

The laptop may have some limited gaming potential however my interest was in the overall configurations primarily for applications related to work. I’m optimistic the DVD Burner can be replaced with a 2nd SSD or HD caddy (investigating but not sure). As to Pricefalls.com they are just a discount house and you deal primarily with the actual seller - pcRush and they’ve been around awhile and like Antonline are pretty well known.

Wow, this laptop has it all. Probably fairly decent for low end gaming as well. Touchscreen,12GB, backlit keyboard, 1920 x 1080, DVD writer (often missing today) and the new Carrizo Architecture AMD 10-8780 just came out a few months back. I'd swap out the HD for an SSD if the optical drive caddy isn't compatible. Original HP specs & other listings site S8 M360 graphics - never heard of that before. Not bad for the price. Thanks & repped.

S8 M360 ????

Fallout 4 Is unplayable in low settings according to the benchmarks I saw, even in lower resolution. Not sure id call it a gaming laptop. Decent deal for a touchscreen.

One negative for sure but the rest is not bad for the price. I would assume that most would use this as a desktop given the weight as its a bit much to lug around compared to the truly thin portable laptops out there nowadays. That is my intended use. And I've not seen anything comparable at this price - its even a few dollars lower than the March listing.

Yes, it is a very good deal that should more than meet the needs of the average user. Having the AMD CPU, touchscreen, 12GB memory, discrete graphics, backlit keyboard, USB 3.0, 1920 x 1080, IPS, etc. is not easy to come by at this price in a 17" laptop. In addition to everything else the backlit keyboard is a real plus in my mind as many laptops don't have it at this price. And this is quite bright.

Anyone know if this is IPS?

EDIT: Sorry, I should have read the description. Yes, it is IPS according to the specifications. Nice find.

My 17" laptop just broke.. Was eyeing on some 15"s deal earlier, like the asus $399 one with ssd, but I do like a bigger screen. Deal-wise is this one frontpage?

Btw, may i ask why touchscreen is a plus for laptops? I get it if it's a 2-in-1, but for usual laptops where you'll always have access to the keyboard and touchpad?

EDIT: any information about warranty? It's left blank on product page.

Really [woot.com] good [woot.com] info at Woot, which had a factory refurb at $470 5 months ago with a 90 day warranty. This model number is Costco specific.

The Woot threads include info on swapping drives, which is annoyingly complicated.

Not powerful enough to be used as a gaming laptop and too big to be used for anything else.

The amd can be overlooked. But not when combined with no SSD, HP and refurbished.
