Assuming that two more people commit to the purchase Massdrop will have the Victorinox Alpnach automatic chronograph wristwatch [massdrop.com] for $500 + shipping ($14.25 to US). This is a pretty good deal for a auto chrono using a Valjoux 7750 movement. Other features include a label that says "Swiss Made", a "slightly domed" sapphire crystal, stainless steel case, leather deployant strap (also in blue dial with PVD/SS bracelet) and a display caseback. It's a little on the large size at 43mm case x 52mm lug (21mm width) with a thickness of a hefty 15mm, but that's pretty much par for the course for watches using this movement.

Enjoy.

you might consider adding a couple of links to better educate the average SD'er.

Oops, I normally try to add links within the text, but forgot this time around. I've since corrected my error. Thanks for the heads up. Thumbup

I have made a few purchases from Massdrop. Two of which were watches (a Enclave dress watch and a Seiko Cocktail Time), and all have went pretty well (I had a problem with one of the straps on the Enclave and it was corrected in a reasonable period of time).

They aren't a retailer, but rather a group buy site that has polls to decide what to buy and then adjusts the price according to how many purchases are made (there are levels on most, where you need so many commitments to make the purchase at all, then different price levels as more people commit). They are often only a few bucks less (or sometimes more) than Amazon, but occasionally they come across something worthwhile (either because it is hard to find, only sold at one store that never has sales, or because it's actually less costly). The only problem is with shipping time...it can (and in my experience does) take a few weeks to get the product. You have to wait for the "drop" to end, then it's usually about 2 weeks before it ships...then another week to arrive. If you need/want something quick, it's not the place to order from.

I have made multiple purchases there. The first several went fine but the last one had some issues and they weren't exactly the easiest to deal with. So if nothing happens it's fine but if there is an issue don't expect Amazon-like response or customer service.
