I was looking at buying this heater last year when it was going for about $100, down to $51.99 on amazon and target.com, both with free shipping. The smaller 40k unit is still selling for $85.88 on amazon.

Thanks op, looks like a decent price after a quick search. Could use it in my garage.

This is probably not the brightest idea, but for sh*ts and giggles, how would this work at melting a pile of snow?

Heaters like this throw a pretty good source of heat, so it would probably work pretty well, but you'd have to move it frequentely.....definitely not the best idea though shake head

Would it be possible to hook this up to your home gas rather than having a tank?

If your home runs on propane and you build in a regulator, sure. Most homes use natural gas though. You'd know because you'd get a gas bill every month and not have a huge propane tank sitting on the side of your house.

Except this is liquid propane, not gas propane. Needs a different kind of tank, like a forklift uses.

you can run this off of your 500 gallon home propane tank, but only if it is properly regulated. I had my propane company set up a line to my shop that I use to run heaters like this.
