Say no for the watch needs charging daily
Do you use it as a regular watch every day as well? I've never been much of a normal watch wearer, and just using this for my running activities gives me more than enough charge to last for my weekly training. It probably wouldn't have enough juice to get me through my longer weekend runs, but it's not a daily charger in my experience.

Obviously the charging needs change depending on your habits. I will say that this watch is prone to having charging issues where the charging "clamp" will magnetically grasp but then simply not charge the device. I've had times where it gets enough of a contact to turn the watch back on (I turn it off after syncing my activity for the day) and says it's charging, but then just doesn't charge or charges so slowly that the mere fact of having the watch on drains the battery. I'm not sure if it's a contact issue on the charger or the watch itself, but it's frustrating to have plugged in the watch before a long run only to find it completely dead in the morning.

EDIT: To be fair, the charging issues are one of only two complaints I have for this watch over the last 10 months. GPS can be errant at times when starting out even after the watch confirms it's obtained the GPS satellites, but tends to even itself out in the first 1/4 mile. Resetting the satellite listing from within the watch sometimes helps, but my first 1/4 mile still tends to stray off my known paths. Satellite caching via Connect would help, but I'd imagine that's a hardware limitation and not something a firmware update could fix.

If you have the option to wait, I'd try sticking it out for whenever the next round of refurbished Forerunners come out. I wouldn't mind jumping to the 620 myself if just to get away from the charging issues on the 610, though I'm also hoping to see some refurbished deals on the 920XT's to appease my geekier side.

A little off topic.. I bought this watch when it first came out for 375 dollars . For what it does.. It a good price.. Make sure buy the one with heart rate monitor!! My watch work fine and is simple to use . I recently upgrade to a Garmin Fenix 3. But having this watch as a backup .

Bought refurbished Fenix 1 last year for $100. I think battery is dying since April and not covered by warranty. Think twice before buying refurbished rechargeable (non-solar) GPS enabled watches. This is a good price though, might grab it just for the HRM.

Good price, I would also wait for a good price on the 620. The 620 with the heart rate mortgage is a big improvement and smaller and lighter.

I had this watch and ran a few thousand miles with mine. Touch screen works well even under hot sweaty conditions. My issue with this watch is the charging cable which was a real PIA. That being said this is a great deal. GPS has 10 hour battery life and no you don't need to charge it everyday unless you are running a ton.

I use this watch 5 times a week for the last 2 years, charge it once a week. But I turn it off between runs. It does everything you need, except for Bluetooth, which is useful, but for the price it's a good deal.

Will I get paid to run? If not, why would I do that?

I used this watch for a few months. I still keep it (and the charger) in my gym bag in case my current watch fails before an important run.

I was for the most part happy with this watch. The "reverse charging" bug was a real pain, but hopefully it will not affect you. Google that before you buy this. Satellite acquisition took just a few minutes tops. I do recommend waiting about another minute after you acquire satellites as I have had cases where it told me I was locked only to view my run later and see that I was somehow rotated 90 degrees for the fist few minutes (distance was correct.)

The dongle is a pain. If you have an android phone with an ant+ antenna in it, there is an app on Google Play that does a pretty good job syncing your data with Garmin. It's not perfect, but better than having to find a PC to sync.
