Just an input for people who are seeing bad wifi signal in certain areas of their homes. For the past week or so, I have gone through at least 10 highly rated routers to try and get a better signal to certain areas of my house without any luck. No matter how good a router you get, certain areas of your house will only get a limited signal. You best bet is to get something like this with decent range and install access points in those areas where you're having tough luck getting signal to. That's what I did. This router will go with 2x edimax 5 in 1 routers i picked from microcenter that are surprisingly amazing for the price ($24). First time, I am getting excellent signal throughout my house.

BTW, the other routers I tried were linksys 1900ACS, nighthawk AC1900 and nighthawk AC2350, This TPLink 1900, Archer C2, Archer C5, Archer C50, Asus AC1200.

I found this one to be the best value for the money. Performed as well as Nighthawk 1900.

Timing is perfect - need a new router and was hesitant to get the asus RT-AC68P on refurb from Newegg's shellshocker today. I think the refurb is the same as the t-mobile deal but honestly the 2 day shipping from prime kind of locks it in for me and the reviews look way better and less risky. Thanks OP!

I'm planning to reflash with dd-wrt mainly because it sounds like a fun/easy project and i want to load a side load a transmission client too. Anyone have any experience or suggestions with this plan? Just curious - looked like the perfect router to try this out with!

Thanks for sharing your experience. It good to know that I don't need to upgrade. I have a TPLink 1900 and an access point for a trouble area.
