Ok price, but if your a gamer, the graphics card 2GB NVIDIA GeForce 950M will be struggling a year from now with newer games.

If not, then I'd say not bad.

How good of a brand is acer when it comes to durability? I got a sub 300$ Lenovo laptop four years ago without a warranty and have treated it like a piece of trash - even dropping it several times - but it still hasn't had a single problem with it. Of course I'd treat this one better, but, again, I won't be getting a warranty so it seems like a big risk. shake head

And the only reviewer seems to have had a huge issue with it being defective...I'm hoping the same isn't true of the batch Costco received.

Edit: I looked it up and it comes with a cool Concierge warranty that extends the regular manufacturer's warranty.
However, the 50$+ tax is a little too killer for me. I may want to pass this up for now. LMAO

Still, it's a good deal...I'm not sure if I've seen the 4k and SSD combo at this price.

Edit 2 (because I don't really want to bump the thread for no reason): huh, weird. I could have sworn I saw the "128gb" ssd somewhere. Guess it was just on the other website that I looked up for reviews--the laptop was equivalent in specifications otherwise.

My experience with Acer hasn't been too bad..they've gotten better in recent years.

And if it is indeed defective, you'd be glad that you bought it at Costco.

Correct, for this DDR3 version.
950M GDDR5 is still perfectly capable for laptop graphics, just barely behind a 960M

Anyone own one of these already?

Costco has 90 days returns on this, right?

Brand new, just received it 3 hours ago. I haven't even had the opportunity to install anything. The screen just randomly goes black and the only way you can get it to come back on is to press and hold the power button until it turns off and then turn it back on. It has done it 3 times already. I should note that I am a software engineer and know my way around computers. This thing is junk and going back to Costco in the morning.

My experience with Acer laptops over the last many years is, they're generally good quality items. They've been better quality than my current Dell laptop Frown whose case is cracking and breaking. Acer also does not (at least not in my experience) use their BIOS to restrict users to the original wifi card, as HP and Lenovo have often done.

Everything is fine. A little problem is the screen corners have quite obviously lights-leak when it's in black.

Hmm... I'd still have to spend $150 on installing an SSD. At $750, it's kinda pricey.

Wouldn't do it if I were you, Acer uses the lowest quality components. Asus on the other hand, much better, stick with either them or Lenovo.

I really like the build quality of my Acer. Got the E15 940mx 256 SSD model from amazon and the thing is a champ. The 1080p screen on mine is absolute crap so I'd suggest you read up on what 4k panels Acer uses. Also Costco's warranty and CS is fantastic...

Is the gpu upgradable? Like, could I put in a 1060 laptop card if I wanted to?
