Bed Bath and beyond has it for $599. Go there with a 20% off coupon and it's $479+ tax. This isn't a bad price but it's not very slick imo.

Yes the coupon excludes the 880 but I've done it along with countless others. The computer scans it no problem.

Not really a great deal. All this has the other 8xx don't is a remote and the lighthouses. Most people eventually figure out the lighthouses aren't really much better than the virtual walls that come with the other 8xx series. Save yourself some dough and wait for a deal on the 805, 860, or 870 and save another $150 for essentially the same machine, minus the gimmicks.

I agree - best value is the 805 from costco.

Agreed. The only thing I like about the lighthouses is the automatic programming between multiple rooms. If I have certain rooms that need to be cleaned first before the battery needs recharged, it's nice to tell the robot which rooms to do in order without me being there.

If your layout isn't too complicated, they're fine.

This is a lousy deal as best! a little while ago the 880 was $550 - 20% at bed bath..... The best deal was the 860 for $300 or less at JC Pennys about 8 weeks ago... If you really want one just be on the look out as these do go on sale all the time.... The 860/805 is prob best value.... 880 is good , the light houses work but they are useless to me as the roomba will only stay in each room for 20 mins max!!!! such a stupid concept if you have anything more then a small room as the roomba just can't clean a medium to large room in 20 mins! yet the battery was great and would go 2 1/2 hours before needing to charge when I had it clean in manual mode (mostly hardwood floors / ceramic tile). So my 880 went back and saved almost $200 by buying the 860...

We don't have a dog or cat, so unless one of my kids (13yr, 13yr, and 9yr) or my wife decide to deuce in the middle of the floor, I think we are fine.

We are soon moving into a house that is mostly tile/wood, with only the 5 bedrooms being carpeted. I was looking at the 980, mostly because I have read it navigates way better and can charge itself when the batteries get low, but it doesn't really do anything special for the hard floors other than the "carpet boost" feature, plus it's pricey ($780 seems to be the going price). Is it better to look at the scooba since the bulk of the floors will be either tile or wood and just use the Dyson on the carpets? As mentioned above, we don't have pets, but we have kids. We are also an "asian" household, so shoes are usually taken off by the door.
