TripAdvisor is one of the worst or absolutely rubbish company you should invest your dime into. Their reviews are absolutely disgusting or misleading to even believe at first. They have absolutely zero confirmed reviews from guests who actually stayed into any hotel. They are manipulating the law and bully over so many business owners and ruined their life because any half fvcked brain maniac writes a review and without checking any facts they publish them. Go ahead and try to write a review, They will easily let you write any crap you want without check any facts that you indeed stayed into any hotel. Many people get trapped into their reviews to book the hotel. Avoid them as a cancer.

I trust more on hotel.com or expedia.com or booking.com like sites. They have system in place where you can not write review unless you actually stayed. They send links to post review only after you stayed into any hotel. Their reviews are way more trustworthy than crappy trip advisor bull crap. Go ahead and try to post fake review on these site. You won't even find a way to write your review unless they send you a link after making sure you are a legit guest. I am sure people manipulate these sites too but may be 0.000001% of what people do with Trip Advisors crappy site.

Reviews of TA vs reviews at legit review sites (hotels.com, expedia.com, bookings.com, hotwire.com etc) are completely opposite. That's because those other sites are legit unlike piece of sh!tt TA.

It's pretty much a turd joke.

If you really want a deal then find a hotel you like to stay and google that hotel to find their direct number. Call them and they will give you way better deal than this $25 turd from TA. Its a straight saving instead of waiting to catch $25 turd drop from TA for months.

Most business owners require to pay upto 25% commission for the site like TA or other middle man hooker sites to earn business. Instead, they will happy to cut you a better deal if you call them directly. That way you and business owners both wins. I have done this so many times.

Yeah and you are a super genious who actually figured it out that I have or had a hotel or restaurant or whatever and due to TA it was closed down and so now I am after TA, and living my life by hunting deals on SD. I actually acquired that business a while back (now it has closed down per your genius analysis) with 20% off coupon I found from SD, and you did not figure that part out.

Ax to grind much?

I've used trip advisor in the past without any problems. Many of the reviews include photographs taken by the reviewer. All review sites can be manipulated but I haven't encountered any special problems with trip advisor. The hotel I stayed at in new Orleans (based on their excellent reviews) was lovely.
In fact, I planned almost my whole New Orleans trip from 10/15 using trip advisor. I was very pleased.

You, however, are posting multiple rambling rant posts about how you hate trip advisor. I'm inclined to think the problem is personal. You would be more credible if you could post an articulate statement about what you think is a problem.

Let's split the difference here.

Yes, there are fake reviews on TripAdvisor. I actually found one this morning, referencing an event that I could prove never happened.

On the other hand, among the sites that accept any submission (and that includes Amazon), TripAdvisor is one of the best in ferreting out fake reviews. A few months back I suggested travelers avoid a hotel where they'd hear church bells all day, and TripAdvisor asked me to confirm I had experienced this personally.

But, there's more to this. In recent months TripAdvisor has become less concerned about the quality of their reviews, because they've shifted focus from being a "source of truth" to becoming a booking engine. The more people submit reviews, the more loyal they are to TripAdvisor and the more likely to make a booking there. You can see that they've started soliciting reviews more aggressively, and that the quality of their content has taken a hit.

So seriously, TripAdvisor reviews are in the middle somewhere between fake and high quality.

Regardless, offering a 12.5% cashback bonus (at most) isn't such a great deal considering the other options out there.

Lol...so much DRAMA. Breathe a little, your blood pressure will go down.

I like review sites to allow me to post my actual experiences without filters or review. That's the best way to get the actual info straight from the horse's mouth.
