Any thoughts on reliability or fist-hand experience?

Never had a good experience with a Toshiba drive myself but userbenchmark.com shows good things for performance?

I was worried about that. Guess I'll stick with HGST for now. Thanks.

I have 8 of them in a server setup. No issues for about 6months now. Toshiba is known for excellent drive quality. It is why they are the best ones for laptop use as well. I also love Hitachi drives.
All drives fail, all brands can make good drives, some years better than others. The best practice for any HDD is to have it in a cool surrounding. Have a AC duct piped to it, or a fan blowing cool ambient air to it. It is the best way to make it last. But even then, the MFG have made parts ina drive somewhat weaker than other server drives, so after a lot of R/WR commands, these parts start to fail. I have Western Digital Caviar Black drives that should have failed some time ago, but keep on ticking, and why I like them.
