Thanks and definitely considering ordering. Just not sure how well it'll do in the TX heat. Any members own this dash cam? If so...thoughts? How well is the windshield mount too? Thanks.

I have their 2K model that goes on sale occasionally. That dashcam saved me from getting stuck with a $10,000 transmission replacement on my Evo since I managed to record the problems I was having and that Mitsubishi magically could never find when they had the car.

That being said, I wouldn't recommend it for hot climates. Here in Florida if I don't take it off the windshield during the day, it just won't function properly during my drive home in the evening. It keeps rebooting itself, and it's obviously running incredibly hot. They advertise up to 140 F operating temperatures but I wouldn't be so sure.

I'd save up for a dashcam that uses a capacitor for hot weather; just safer, and less of a pain. It takes me 5 seconds to take it out and put it back on, but it's still an annoyance.

Thank you for the help and information. Glad your dash cam saved the day!

And those are my thoughts too...passing on this unit and looking for a great one that uses a capacitor because in TX this year alone its been over 115 in my car when just sitting in the sun for a few hours. I hope to find a 4-5 star dash cam that uses capacitor.

I bought it, and the video quality was awesome.

If you want to mount it in the rear windshield, the cable that comes with it will not be long enough. Also, the power input port is very easy to break.

It doesn't take extraordinary conditions for the inside of a car to get to near 180F [theweathernetwork.com]- just a mildly warm day and full sun.

Their 2k model would freeze up, get super hot to touch and the lcd screen would go dark if I left the cam running for a few hours in the heat.
