Over the years, I bought three kitchen/postal scales. They have a resolution of 1 gram, which is fine for most things. One of them has a fatal flaw, though. I can add an ingredient until it is just close to what I need, and in just a few seconds it will start changing its reading, usually going slowly down. Or if I am adding one gram per second, it might just stay on the same number.

My last scale is for measuring lye for making soap. And this one works perfectly every time. I don't know if Amazon has a better price (I paid $13.50). This one reads down the a hundredth of a gram, and with practice, I can usually get my lye to one or two tenths of a gram. I like that.
