How's the cushion on these things? Every part of these cheapo chairs I have bought work fine and last a long time, except for the cushion... After a year or so the cushion material, whatever it is, collapses and gives you no butt support. Others complain about the leather breaking down or the armrests coming off. I have never had those problems except for the cushion giving out.

Probably flat after about 2 years of heavy use. Even the nice ones will eventually go flat in the end, which makes me wonder have you tried those mesh bottom chairs? You could probably throw a cushion/memory foam with the mesh.

Yes, I have tried them. They're not as good as conventional, cushioned seats but slightly better than old, flattened cushioned seats.

My brother's office has 15 year old office chairs that are heavily used but you couldn't tell from sitting in them. The cushion is fat, as robust as the first day and very nice. It's fabric on the outside but I'm sure it's foam inside. Can't tell what kind of foam. My understanding is you can't get these types of chairs in Staples, and they cost much more than what you can get at Staples on sale. I would have thought foam is such a mundane and cheap material that these Staples chairs could use them too so you won't go through so many chairs just because of the crappy cushions.

It's been at the ~$40 price point for a couple months now. I bought two about a month ago. Decent quality cheap chairs. Buy the protection plan for $10. After about a year, file a claim. You don't need to provide proof--they will just send you a gift card for the purchase price of the chair. Been doing this with Staples for a few years now.

The chair has a 7-year warranty and once the part is no longer available, you get a GC to use to buy another chair. Otherwise the replacement part arrives within a week or so. ST is not usable on items that still have a warranty.

Does the price adjust to store price if ordered online for store pickup at Staples? (Like in the case of Walmart?)
