Agreed. I prefer 3500K and for the life of me can't figure out why they pretty much don't make that in LED. I suppose the market is for the sickly yellow of 2700K because everyone is used to that and if not they can make the jump to 5000K Daylight. I keep thinking that as things mature we'll start to see 3500K but it's still slim pickings at best.

For a living room you most likely want what's known as soft white / warm white. Daylight here is better for a kitchen or bathroom.

The soft white / warm white version of this often goes on sale for about $5 for a 4 pack at HD.

Argh! Just paid $11 for this a week or two ago (and tossed receipt, oh well). Used for taking fleabay photos and work great.

Not great in a living room and honestly event for the kitchen mentioned above - I like something with a color temp between daylight and warm white.

I use daylight in our living/family room bc my wife thinks the soft white is too dull.
Use 2 100W LED bulbs.
