I see these go on sale frequently for $80. Have these or possibly the K70s go down a lower price?

The Cherry MX Red regularly goes on sale, but the Cherry MX Brown a little bit less frequent. It is certainly possible that they may have a bigger sale from major online retailers like Newegg or Amazon during black friday this year, it is up to you to take the chances and wait.

Alright. I guess I'll wait then. I'm in no real rush to get one.

I do have a question, though. What's the advantage of the USB passthrough. port? You're not gonna save 1 USB port since the keyboard cable uses 2 USB slots anyways if you plan on using the passthrough.

I always thought the usb pass through was for connecting your usb flash drive, mouse or game controller so to avoid having to reach under the desk.

I guess that can be a benefit depending on your desk.

Amazon showed both brown and red for $79. I went with red for the quieter keys.

I think the brown is the more quiet one if I'm not mistaken....

Red is louder than brown...

Really?

I got browns (which I am typing on now) because I liked the middle ground between the linear red and the clicky tactile loud blues.

The brown switches have a bump that feeds into your key press, and idk. It feels good. :o

Red switches feel like mush next to it.

Red is absolutely not louder than brown unless you are smashing the keys and bottoming the keycaps out. Red has no bump, no anything, it is just a lightweight linear mechanical switch. Browns should not have any more or less sound than Red's or other linear switches, the bump is tactile only.

Blues have a high pitched click and are louder due to that click. Buckling Springs are way louder. Alps as well...

I have nearly every mechanical switch made and use most of them in rotation. Currently typing on my workhorse keyboard, a Realforce 87USW. It is about as quiet as you can get for a mechanical keyboard which is why I use it the most in my home office (kids bedroom down the hall).
